I am overly excited about the forth coming releases. My orders will be as follows:
2 South Carolinas, 1 Vanguard, 5 Slavas, 4 packs of Tashkents, 3 Minotaurs, 6 Midways, 1 Admiral Hipper, 6 Pittsburghs, 3 Kumas, 1 Shinano and yes 110 tower Hills 78 Doxfords and 32 for the Forts that were similar.

I am listing the carriers not yet produced hoping that maybe 1 or 2 of these will make the cut for the next production year. I am hoping for another merchant or 2 if the Tower hill does well.

Irish, here are some additions to your list. These are not completely missing as technically they are represented in some way but not in the configuration that I would like to see.

1. Enterprise/Yorktown 1942. Currently GHQ makes the Hornet but the Hornet was actually a half sister to the other two and had a few changes. We don't have these two ships as they appeared at Coral Sea and Midway in the case of the Yorktown and Midway and ** CENSORED ** for the Enterprise. In my opinion this is a big gap that needs to be filled.

2. Lexington as she appeared at Coral Sea. The currnet model depicts her as she was just prior to the war and at the outbreak of hostilities. At Coral Sea the 8 inch turrets had been replace by AA guns.

3. Saratoga in 1942. Currently we have the Saratoga in 1944 or the very early version as per Lexington.

That is quite an order! Are you planning to play both world wars as campaigns?
Seriously, I am a little curious about the 6 Midways as we only commissioned 3 of them. Are you including cancelled hulls or doing modified versions as well as building the kits straight out of the package?

Shouldn't you be ordering five of the Kumas to model Kitikami and Oi before their conversion to torpedo cruisers?

In regards to the Midways, yes I am including the 3 that were cancelled.

As far as the Kumas Don, No I am using the Oi & Kitagami as they were converted so I only need the 3 that were in their original form.

4 Tashkents packs even though only the 1 was built, but the class projected 12.

I collect for 1-1 for built or projected. So far the Libertys are the killer group.

If you actually purchase 110 of the upcoming TOWER HILL merchant ships, especially if you did it all at once, I'd bet that the good folks at GHQ would let YOU pick the next Merchie to be released in 1/2400 scale. Wow - just think: that would make for one really big (and expensive) package arriving at your mailbox!!

If limited to the three nations listed, I would vote for one of the Japanese standardized merchant ships built during the war. They built 457 of the Type 2E (small general-purpose transports), 131 of the type 2A (larger general-purpose transports), and several hundred total of a dozen other types. Most of these have not been modeled by anyone in 1/2400 scale.

My second choice among the three listed nations is the US “Type 1022â€￾ (aka Hog Island A). About 110 were built at the end of WWI, most of which survived into WWII (with several dozens sunk in WWII convoys). Sea Battle makes a model (very expensive) and Viking Forge makes a licensed copy (much lower cost but castings not a good).

Another US ship design I would like GHQ to produce is the C1 type standardized design of WWII. 219 of the C1-M-AV1 sub-type were built, about half of which became part of the USS Alamosa (AK-156) class. In civil hands, they were given “knotâ€￾ and “coastâ€￾ names. Viking Forge makes a model of the Alamosa, but a GHQ model would be better.

I would like to see some Italian merchant ships but don’t have any specific ship or class in mind. I know of only two sources of Italian merchant ships in 1/2400 scale: Sea Battle makes a good but expensive model of Conte Grande (seized by the US in 1941 and used as USS Monticello (AP-61)) and Panzerschiffe produces a pack of Italian merchantmen. The quality of these resin models is will below the metal castings of other manufacturers but the cost is low. The major shortcoming of this pack is that about 1/3 of the ships are unique passenger liners. You have to pay for excess copies of these ships to get a reasonable number of the more common transports and oilers in the pack.

But why limit the next merchantman to Japan, Italy, or the US? I would suggest one of the British oilers built during and immediately after WWI. Many of these remained in service into the 1940s. For example, “War *,â€￾ “*leaf,â€￾ and “*olâ€￾ types were built in significant numbers. France, Germany, Soviet Union, and the neutrals should also be considered.

You have some great ideas on the Merchants I like them all.
My thread is going south so I am going to turn it around.

My thoughts on the Carriers would be 3 oldies to begin with.

USS Langley, although she had been derated to a Aircraft transport she played a historical role in the defense of Java and paid the price being sunk.

IJN Hosho, she only played a role in the Midway Operation and then the role of a training carrier. She was the first built as a carrier in the world.

Good ol ditty box Argus, she did her duty for the Brits, serving as a training carrier and then filling the gap after the British lost several carriers. She was vital in Malta's defense.

There are other carriers like the Indomitable and Implacble class or the Chitose class, but I'ld like to see those 3 as well.

Any thoughts on carriers guys?

I am much more interested in surface warfare than aircraft carriers, but if you ask my opinion, here are my choices for new GHQ aircraft models:

- Japanese Chitose class: The only 1/2400 scale models for this class are in resin from Panzerschiffe. The ships did have combat significance, being used as sacrificial pawns for Operation Sho-Go.

- British Argus: Historically significant because this was the first continuous-deck aircraft carrier. Relegated to transport duty at the start of WWII because of slow speed, the Argus proved vital to the defense of Malta. The more modern British carriers had smaller elevators and hangers, so they couldn't handle aircraft without folding wings. The only 1/2400 scale model of this ship is in resin from Panzerschiffe.

- US Enterprise and Yorktown as they appeared in 1942. No one makes a 1/2400 model of these ships as they appeared at Coral Sea, Midway, and Guadalcan*l. These were very important ships in these very important battles.

I eliminate Langley because she was no longer an aircraft carrier in 1942. With half her flight deck removed, aircraft could neither land nor take off from the ship. Still an interesting ship that I would like to have modeled, but not an aircraft carrier.

A question that I've been pondering since this thread began--isn't HMS Eagle already available (UKN31)?

UKN31 is the early-war HMS Eagle (pennant number 94), which was sunk in 1942.
The HMS Eagle requested in this thread is the late-war design (pennant R05, a contemporary of USS Midway). This ship was a war-time design, launced in 1946 but not completed until 1951.
btw, there have been 15 other ships named HMS Eagle (plus one not completed). Since the British have recycled ship names more than any other country, it becomes important to provide an additional means of identification, such as pennant number or year of launching or commissioning.

That makes more sense, but why not lobby for the Malta class also, since if Eagle and Ark Royal had been completed in time to see war service, they almost certainly would've gotten the green light too.

That's one vote for Malta in the Consolidated Micronaut Wish List.

Malta is described in the Comprehensive Micronaut Wish List, 1925-1949 era aircraft carriers. It's an impressive design; unlike Eagle (which was a contemporary of Midway but significantly smaller), Malta was a match for Midway.

I think one reason that Malta has not had previous support is that, unlike Midway, Eagle, and Shinano, none of the ships were completed (or even laid down).
