Greetings All,
Thought I'd try to get a small discussion if GHQ should have a Mirco Armor Convention. Please submit your input. I hope that maybe GHQ would think about it.

Nice idea, but the USA is a bit too far away for me
Btw, are there no GHQ stands on other conventions for miniatures?

There are already historical wargaming conventions like Historicon and Fall In that cater to a wider variety of gamers. The advantages in that are:
a) Many more players will attend to help pay for the facilities
b) GHQ doesn't have to pay to run the convention
c) broader market range to attract other gamers to micro armor
All you have to do is book a booth with your own board, figures and your favorite rule set and you'll have small groups of players wander over curiously.

My proposal is to see it as a micro armor fest. We blog here a great deal especially in support of the product. With so many of us in this particular scale range. It would be a visual event with the amount of detail we all show on the forum.

I have plans to run a micro armor game at Monstercon this coming June. Monstercon, which has been held every year around Memorial Day weekend in Tempe, AZ, is actually a board wargaming convention put on by John Kranz of Consimworld. I live in the area and approached John about doing a micro armor game and he is very interested.
I have several objectives here.
1. Create a good time for everyone that is interested in checking it out.
2. Introduce the hard core boardgamers to a little visual 3d eye candy and the world of miniature gaming.
3. Show what can be done at this scale and show the detail that GHQ has on their great miniatures.
I don't know if any of you guys ever attend this convention but if you do plan to attend please let me know. Thanks.

Another way to get exposure is to hit and enter hard into the tabletop gaming conventions.. alongside Flames of War, Warhammer and Warhammer 40K.
With the range GHQ has.. and the resurgence of Modern Warfare.. I do not see how GHQ can't compete.
Then again Maybe I'm not seeing the Blindspots... but seriously.. Kids and well young adults like me do dig Modern Warfare with the whole Battlefield 2 to Modern Warfare 1 and 2 computer games around.
Although, I am not too sure of whether being expose to the tabletop gaming scene is a bad thing.
Perhaps GHQ is happy to be niche within a niche.

I think we should just put more games out there in the big conventions. I had a really good turnout for my microarmour game at Historicon last year.
As it is people are limited on the number of conventions they go to so it's easier to get in on current ones. I've also looked into what it takes to put on a convention and it takes a good dedicated group to keep it going.

this thread was done a couple years ago on this forum. Had lots of good ideas but like most things people give up on it or just fizzles out.
major problem i can see is where to put something on like this. I mean GHQ runs the con most likely it would be in MInnesota near their facility. So, with that said how many would travel more than a couple hundred miles to attend? I live in Northern Indiana near south Bend and would love to see something like this done. And it could be more than just micro armor, it could also be micronauts!
Another question is do you keep it to just GHQ rule sets? if GHQ is supporting the con then i would say it should be unless they say other wise.
Just my two cents worth.
