I'm a WWII Naval gamer and as no company makes the British WWI "S" class destroyers and I'm not terribly up on WWI , can anyone recommend a British destroyer class that IS available from any company that is a close enough size and appearance match in 1/2400? Thanks so much[/b]

The closest I can find in 1/2400 scale to a British "S" class destroyer of 1918 is the "R" class. The "R" class is the same size (276 ft long) and has the same armament (3 single 4" guns, one 2pdr, and two twin 21" torpedo tubes). The biggest problem is that the "R" class ships had three funnels and the "S" class only two.
Clipping the center funnel from an "R" class gives a reasonable (not excellent) approximation of the appearance of an "S" class. {After checking some drawings and photographs, a bit more modification of an "R" class model will give a better approximation of an "S" class: Remove the first funnel rather than the middle funnel and then move the bridge aft to the position of the first funnel (this will require cutting and then re-attaching the bridge). In the "S" class, the front of the bridge was about even with the break in the main deck. The forward 4" gun mount should also be moved back slightly, but I think this is not worth the effort.}
"R" class destroyers in 1/2400 scale are available from CinC (MF-518) and Viking Forge (#3567).
I just noticed that you are interested in a WWII model. By this time, the survivors of the "S" class had been mostly modified as minelayers, minesweepers, escorts, etc. This involved removing one (or two) of the 4" guns and one (or both) of the torpedo mounts and adding the appropriate minelaying racks, sweeping gear, or anti-submarine & anti-aircraft weapons (depth charge racks, 3-inch AA gun, light AA guns).
