I'm starting to build some forces for these wars and want to solicit opinions about what current offerings best model the Arab forces infantry.

I'm thinking WWII UK for Egyptians/Jordanians and WWII Russians for Syrians for the 67 war. I think WWII Russians for all of the Arabs for the 73 war.

For the Israelis I'm planning to use a mixture of primarily US VN and a few modern inf for both wars, although I have seen pics of Israelis wearing digger hats in 67 so the WWII Aussies might be an alternative but the bulk of them seem to be wearing shorts so I don't know how they will paint up. I think WWII UK Paras might be a good alternative as well. Of course the modern Israeli inf are an option too, but their kit is too, well, modern.

What do y'all think?

67 Egyptians I see enfields and stens. I'd use British Paras (so you get the round helmet).
67 Syrians I see modern Russian weapons so I'd use Modern Warsaw Pact (and third world regulars for their PKM.
67 Jordanians I can't find pictures of except for their king with either a G3 or FN FAL, so based on that I'd go with third world regulars

73 arabs I'd go with modern warsaw pact

67 israelis I'd use third world regulars (painted as shown here)


73 israelis i'd use the same + a little bit of US VN infantry and Modern israelis. No idea what you'd use for the abundance of Uzis in both wars.

Does this advice hold true for 1980s Israelis?

Okay, for the Six day War the Jordanians were primarily equiped with WW2 US and British Infantry Kit. Id use ww2 Brit infantry for them.

The Egyptians were carrying AK's and other modern soviet weapons with the odd SKS and Mosen mixed in for variation. I'd use Modern Warshaw for them. I don't have great knowledge on the Syrians, so I'm not gonna guess.

The Israeli's of the 67 war looked (at least to me) like US grunts in Vietnam, but sporting FN's. This is why I want GHQ to make some Vietnam Aussies, because they could be used for their namesake, six day war israeli's, cold war Canadians and a whole lot more NATO troops too! but for them I'd use Third world regulars, cuz the G3's can be made to look like FN's.

I would also use the same things for the October war of 73, because nothing really changed in terms of Infantry Kit.
