Is that a decal of the flight deck or just a drawing you're using for the project?

Decal..yes of sorts. I produced the deck using excel and printed it on matte photo paper. I will then cut it out and paste to the real flight deck.

I've wanted to do the same thing for the Charles deGaulle. What did you use for the hull of the model?

the hull is carved,cut,and sanded from balsa wood. The center was hollowed out somewhat to add lead weight to give it a better feel...

Great! I've already got the flight deck sized and cut out from thick plastic sheeting, but wasn't having much luck with my hulls.

Ive found over the years that balsa is about the easiest material to work with when making hulls in this scale. The only really hard part is getting rid of the grain effect. One method I use to deter this is to paint then sand with V fine sandpaper then paint and sand etc, until you are satisfied.
You cant see it in the pictures Ive posted but the stern needs a bit of work because of the grain of the wood and a lot of right angles. For this I might use putty and grinding /sanding.

I know what you mean, I keep waiting for someone to do the Thai carrier before I make my own but it isn't going to happen is it.

The lack of variety in 1/2400 scale is disappointing. The only reason I haven't shifted to 1/3000 scale is how much I have spent already! Although I do enjoy doing modifications to existing ships to make other classes! Scratchbuilding is new to me, but I'm learning.

Scratchbuilding at this scale is fine for the major pieces hull superstructure or whatever but the detail pieces kill me. Still haven't found a workable solution for my cranes on the MPS ship.

The deck looks very impressive but somewhat bare. Have you given any thought about aircraft?
