NVA Painting problem

I'm painting up some NVA (North Vietnamese Army) infantry. After putting the first 40 up on nails and base coating them I started painting details. I did a few with beautifully detailed AK 47’s but over ½ of the guys look like they are armed with sticks!
At first I thought these were SKS rifles but they are not detailed on the tip.
Is there something I’m missing or did I get a bad batch?
I’m not sure if I should try to detail them or not. If it is a flaw I don’t want to draw eyes to it.
Has anyone else seen this?

JB thanks for the link. It was good to go backa nd look at those pictures again.
My issue is that on many of my NVA the AK47 is not moulded. It just looks like a stick.
Is this normal?

I don't have any views to offer on the NVA "stick" guns.
But ...
If you find them less-than-acceptable for your NVA army, I might be willing to take them off of your hands in trade. Looks like they might be useful for my French Armee d'Afrique forces. Not too many choices when trying to model troops with sun helmets and MAS36 rifles, don't you know.

They dont look like the ones I posted? Got pictures of the ones you have to post?

Here is a close up of the issue. I have 8 of these out of the first 40. These are VN21
JB Most of mine look like yours except for these.

After viewing your picture I had to go and look at my NVA. I
do have a small minority of those too, I would just use them as SKS armed troops. I'm sorry I didnt remember them;its been a few years since using or seeing them...

Thanks for taking a look. How small of minority? I guess I'll need to get the magnifier out and look the rest of the pack over.
Maybe a few sprues of AK47’s on my next order. (Thinking of using these for scouts.)

...it looks like one of the NVA infantry sprues has the 3 "lead" characters with "straight" type weapons. (had to dig around and look at them still on the sprue). Minority wise I would approximate 12-15% per pack. These could represent any number of weapons at this scale...I choose SKS, just about the same as Ak except no full auto and load from the top by zip strip or thumb them in ...
If you are to just order AKs then you will need to order the sprue with the 3 grenade throwers; but these 3 could also pass as "straight" type weapons hanging on their shoulder.
