OK guys here is some information on the Hakusan Maru.
She is a member of the "H" class of passenger ships, she has 3 sister ships.
Hakone Maru lead ship ( 495' x 62' )

Hakozaki Maru

Haruna Maru

There are according to "EC Talbot Booth" Merchant ships indentification Book 1940 several ships extremely close in size and layout. I have looked at the line drawings and pictures in the book and gone to a good website that has pictures as well to check them out. You could with in good reason use the Hakusan Maru to represent the following ships as well.
Husimi Maru ( ex Fushimi Maru ) (520' x 62.5' )

Suwa Maru

I cut down the the aft portion by 1 deck on the side ( 1 life boat location ) and filled it in & lower the life boat to represent these 2 ships.
Katori Maru ( 495' x 61.5' )

Kashima Maru

Kamo Maru

Astuta Maru ( 468' x 56' ) smaller but same basic shape and layout
http://www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?151220
Asahi Maru ( 503' x 59.5" )

Yamato Maru ( 503' x 59' )

By removing a portion behind where the stack would go and placing 2 Hakusan stacks one forward of the original location and one aft and doing the same using thinner stacks ( used from a GW cruiser ) and then filling in some of the side 1st deck openings you can create a fair representation of the Asahi Maru ( present at Balikpapan ) and the Yamato Maru. The last 2 were ex Italian ships purchased by Japan between the wars.
The Asahi MAru had her stacks reduced to 1 later, but from what I can find she has 2 stacks early on in the war.
This gives us Merchant fleet collectors a bigger choice for the Japanese fleet by a total of 12 ships.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I will try to post some pictures.
