Care for any help on that? Both Kiasutha (of this forum) and I have done a fair bit of research into and compiling of Romanian TOEs over the past 3 years or so.

They aren't a bad starting point, but they appear to be edited. The German armoured recon battalion 1944-45 I don't recognise from any existing records of proper KstN, but by that time it doesn't really matter. I'd still like to know the source material or if it was made up.
The US self propelled TD platoon should have a jeep. They appear to have been dropped from all levels of the unit except recon, so clearly an edited TO&E. It may not seem that important to lose the jeep from the TD platoon, except that according to FM 18-20 section VII para 44, the platoon commander runs the firefights from the jeep and should not be in any of the TD's.

Like I said, a decent starting point, but if you want true 1:1 and the ability to fight according to doctrine, you'll need to go further.

The TO&Es are indeed edited, and meant to reflect those units in an organization at the sharp end of the stick. I never intended to include the logistical and administrative elements of the organizations presented.

Yeah, I noticed there were no support companies listed, and didn't comment on that. I was talking about the actual command stand for the TD platoon. The platoon commander is meant to direct fire from a separate location from the TD's to allow them to stay hidden, move to alternate positions etc. Very much 'sharp end' stuff. He is meant to be in or near the jeep. The jeep is also the point vehicle in march according to the same FM.

Not sure what US TD TO&Es you are looking at, but tthe ones I just checked out for '42-'43 either had a jeep or a M20 AC as the platoon command vehicle.

The very last entry, SP and towed 1944-45.

From FM 18-20 "Tactical Employment of Tank Destroyer Platoon, Self-Propelled" dated 9 May 1944:

2. EQUIPMENT. The self-propelled tank destroyer platoon is equipped with four self-propelled guns, two armored utility cars, and a ¼-ton truck (ie: a jeep -mk1). It has six vehicular-mounted caliber .50 machine guns and one caliber .30 light machine gun.

9. SECURITY DURING MOVEMENT. ...
b. When contact is imminent, the platoon moving alone provides its own security. During cross-country movements in open formation (fig. 4), a platoon security vehicle can be used to cover the front and flanks of the platoon by moving on an irregular course ahead of the platoon. When ont required elsewhere, the platoon commander habitually leads the platoon in a security vehicle.

It may be worthwhile mentioning that in fig. 4, and indeed all of the illustrations of formations for movement, the "security vehicle" is shown as a jeep.

Thanks for the data. I signal two small mistakes:
I was unable to download the Japanese special naval landing force.
There are two soviet tank bttn. (1943) but no 1944.

And now they are no longer on the site. I hope they will back up soon I, at least, found them to be quite useful.
