i am curious on people's methods to apply grass to hex terrain and other surfaces.
i am also curious on people's mixtures of ground cover to give a realistic looking grass.
Please try to add pictures. Thanks.

I generally don't mess with static grass, especially at this scale.
I usually just paint the surface with brown paint (put it on liberally), and while that is still wet I shake on greeen flock (I use 'fine turf' 'green blend' from a company with the initials of W.S.). This I also put on heavily, then shake off the excess (if you do it over a piece of paper or container you can save the excess to use again later). I let that dry for hours to a day and then spray scenic cement (watered down white glue) over the surface to keep the flock from flaking off later.
Sorry, I don't have any pics at the moment, but it's a pretty standard practice, for the most part.

I follow a similar system as Baphomet only I mix a couple different shades of turfs, weeds, and tea leaves to sprinkle on. It gives me some color variety that looks ok to me, no comment on gardening accuracy. There's a method to making static grass "stand up" but I've never used it. When using static grass, which I usually only do on 1/35 models, I put on some glue, then grass. When that's dry I airbrush it dark green and highlight with yellow and green oil paints. It doesn't stand up but looks ok to me with less fuss.
