Helicpoter rotor blades

Do most people paint the rotors, the brass ones, and if so what has been your preferred method? I was thinking of just black and dry brushing some dark gray.

As I base coat all my miniatures (helicopters, planes, tanks, infantry) matt black, I just leave the rotors the black base coat, but with some final touches like yellow tips, and then I weather them whatever environment they will be operating in.
