Well, it was only a matter of time......

Can we try and just list our top tens this year? I would include 1/285 Landing Craft in this section.

I would love to see :

1. Churchil add-on pack with Plough, Bobbin and Crocodile Trailers
2. Austin K2 Ambulance
3. Austin 'Tilly'
4. Voroshilovets tractor
5. Opel Blitz Fuel Bowser
6. Alfa Romeo 2500 Coloniale
7. Generic WWII Engineers - Minesweeping/Detonating/Digging/'Bangaloring'
8. British 3.7" AA
9. British LCS(L)
10. Kurogane Scout

What would you like to see?

Since my favorite gaming topic is naval warfare, I object to the exclusion of ships, but it’s reasonable to restrict this list to 1/285 scale. This allows inclusion of landing craft and other small craft (like BKA 1125 and PG 117).

I have tried to include a variety of countries, types of models, and time span from early-WW II to Wehrmacht ’47. Despite this, I seem to have leaned towards US, artillery tractors, and Wehrmacht ’47 figures. Here is my list of ten best wishes:

1. I suggest starting production of a new country’s weapons – Czechoslovakia. (Actually, GHQ already produces the Czech LT vz.35 and LT vz.38 tanks as in German service.) In Czechoslovakia, Skoda produced a variety of very good artillery pieces and Praga produced vehicles. My choice for GHQ’s first model is the Skoda 10.5 cm hruby kanon vs.35 with Praga T6 full-track towing vehicles.

2. The French Laffly V15 was a 4x4 light truck/prime mover. It (rather than the fully-tracked Tracteur Blinde) was intended as the towing vehicle for the 25 mm anti-tank gun.

3. The Germans need advanced anti-aircraft weapons for Wehrmacht ‘47. I suggest either the 5.5 cm Gerät 58 or the self-propelled version, Flakpanzer E50 “Falkeâ€￾ with Flak-Zwilling Gerät 58.

4. The Polish forces deserve at least a little air support. How about the light bomber/infantry support PZL.23 Karaś?

5. I would like to see a Voroshilovets or Komintern full-track prime mover for those early-war Soviet large artillery pieces.

6. GHQ produces a ‘Bren Carrier’ but not the slightly larger version used to tow 2-pdr and 6-pdr anti-tank guns. I think GHQ should produce a Universal Carrier (T16 or Lloyd Carrier) or the later ‘Windsor’ or ‘Oxford’ carrier for Wehrmacht ’47 scenarios.

7. I never really liked the looks of the British Challenger tank destroyer (UK21) with its excessively tall, slab-sided turret. I would like to see the open-topped Avenger as an all-British alternative to the Achilles.

8. GHQ has produced the fully-tracked high-speed tractor M5 (in US80), but not the 18-ton M4 or the 36-ton M6. I suggest that they start with the earlier of these in large-scale production, the 18-ton M4.

9. Late in the war, the US produced a prototype anti-tank gun with excellent capability – the 90 mm T13 (or the even better T54) on carriage T9. The carriage was unusual in that the shield was the basic strength element and the split-trail legs attached to the top. For travel, the legs pivoted forward and attached to the end of the barrel.

10. Late in the war, the US produced a ‘light’ series of tracked vehicles based on the M24 tank chasses. GHQ has produced the tank and the M19 anti-aircraft gun, but there are many other vehicles in the series. Some of these were produced in reasonable numbers and served into the Korean War. First, I would like to see the 155 mm HMC M41 ‘Gorilla.’

Don,

I just figured the 1/2400 scale Micronauts fans already had their own stream and didn't wish to butt in. I, like you, am a big fan of ship to shore actions - I've even suggested Mulberry harbours in one of the other strands....

If I stick to just the landing craft, things I'd definitely buy are;

UK; LST 3 or 4 (prefer LCT4). I have a stack of decent LCA, but I'd certainly be curious to see a GHQ version with Lewis cockpit and seating tucked under the 'deck'. Maybe a classic example of cast pewter hull and photo etched deck to stick on.

Germany; Seibel ferry, MFP, I lighter, PiL (maybe), and I have seen a reference to a German boat similar to the soviet riverine boats GHQ already make (I think it had a PzIII turret) but I can't find the reference any more...

LVT4 (asking still...)

Not that I'm hugely interested in the theatre, but GHQ make Japanese, so why not Jap landing boats, US marines etc. That may generate broader interest...
