Napoleonic Miniatures Army Sizes
Hi, I'm thinking of creating a Napoleonic 10mm army, and I was wondering how what is considered to be a reasonable sized army to play. How many miniatures do you need? Does one pack equal a regiment? I would appreciate any help on this? Thanks!

We do 15mm Napoleonics at 1:20 scale, so battalions vary from 20 to 50 figures. For each army I like to have no less than 3 Brigades of infantry, 1 Brigade of cavalry and 3 batteries.
I recently made the msitake of creating a database of all my 15mm, currently painted I have 460 units, 7300 infantry figures, 1670 cavalry, 124 guns and 100 limbers covering 35 countries
And that's just my figures, our group musters more than that again.
Meglamania? Us............
Starting from scratch I would buy figures for a minimum of 3 infantry units (battalions/regiments/brigades) depending on what rules you use, 3 cavalry and/or artillery units. Start painting one infantry unit, then reward yourself after painting each infantry unit by painting a cavalry unit or artillery unit. Your force will soon build up. Another tip is always plan to have 2 armies, in case your opponents can't paint as fast or don;t get round to getting an army. If you plan the armies such that they could be allies or enemies, then you're covered if you need to provide both sides in a pinch.
