All,

Just wondering how you represent modern sniper teams at the micro armour scale? Please correct me if I am wrong but most GHQ infantry sets (all?) don't seem to include anyone modelled with a rifle? Do you just do two soldiers to a base rather than four to differentiate?

If anyone has any pictures they would be appreciated.

The IDF heavy weapons set contains a Soldier with what looks like a .50 cal sniper, and as such that is what I use for my western armies.

Looking at the catalog pic for the Modern US Infantry Heavy Weapons, it appears to me that the prone figure near the Javelin launcher is modelled to be a sniper, no? If not, if it is a SAW, I would expect that clipping off any ammo can and putting him on a stand with a figure with binocs, or with the "combat leader" figures (knealing and pointing, the figure on the far left side in this pic) would do quite well as a sniper team.

Just a thought based on the catalog pic. I have not done much modern gaming since GHQ started making their excellent individual infantry figures. So I can not speak from personal experience using the figures.

IDF Heavy Weaps Kit contains 3 M4/M16 based snipers and 3 .50 cal snipers. Both Former Warsaw Pact kit contains 3 SVD snipers, British heavy weapons kit contains several L86 Light Support weapons.

I order my GHQ stuff through Magister Militum, GHQ's UK agent. The do have a second supplier of figures which I use to buy one-off snipers or Russian SAM launchers etc when GHQ's pack excludes something in the T&OE.

If you are gaming with people with a sense of humor, you could put two lumps on a stand, cover them with railroad grass / shrubs and have a rifle barrel sticking out of one end to simulate a ghillie suited sniper team.
