For a boardgame, I am looking for vehicles with AA guns. I found the SdKfz 7/1 20mm FLAK 38 for the German side, but I can't seem to find a british vehicle.
Did they have any? Preferably something that is mounted on a halftrack/truck. I don't want to use towed guns.
I like the US M16 MGMC, but I am not sure whether it was ever used by the british.
Please let me know if you have a suggestion.
Thanks,
Patrick

In the early stages of Normandy, I think there were some Crusader tanks converted to AA. Other than that, I don' think there were that many or even some at all. Most were stationary like the Bofors 40mm.

The British had the followings self-propelled AA
Crusader III AA Mark I with 40mm
Crusader III AA Mark II with 2x20mm
Morris 4x4 with 40mm
The last two were surely used in North West Europe. for the first I am not sure.
There were 6 x 20mm in HQ of tank units. They were present also in other HQ
The Morris were used by Light AA iunits. For example 6 Morris of the 92th Light AA Regiment, RA landed on Sword Beach with the 3rd Infantry Division.

The British also had AA tanks based on the Vickers Light tank - certainly those based on the Mk VI (2 versions) were used in the desert campaign and I believe one is included in the GHQ set. A troop of 4 was attached to each RHQ.
The Mk.V carried quadruple MG based on a Boulton-Paul turret and another version had twin Besa 15mm but I have no evidence of either serving in action.
Crusader AA actually came in 4 versions - 2 as described above, a Mk.III with radio changes and a Mk.IV with triple Oerlikon 20mm. The Mk.IV was only used for training.
Centaurs had 2 AA versions with Polsten or Oerlikon 20mms using the Crusader turret and these also saw action in NW Europe.
Various CDL tanks were also experimented with in the AA mode, using the lights to dazzle pilots but this was experimental only.
There was also a Universal Carrier with twin Vickers K's tested, but not produced and a similar Loyd carrier with quad brens.
The british also used many of the M2/M3 half-track versions, including AAs.
GHQ do a nice Crusader and Cromwell body and the Mk.II turrent can be obtained from other manufacturers.
Hope this helps.

For boardgame counters go here http://www.imaginative-strategist.layfi ... r.html#CCS
These are the counter sheets for the Panzer Blitz/Panzer Leader game. The UK have both the M-14 AA Halftrack and the Crusader AA Mk II. For minis, the M-17 AA Halftrack in the WW2 Soviets is the same vehicle as the M-14 supplied to the UK but with a 4 gun turret instead of a 2 gun turret. An easy conversion - just leave off the top pair of guns.
cheers
PS Forgot to add that all the stuff on that site are FREE PDF downloads.

Thank you very much for your replies! I checked your suggested vehicles, but indeed, they were not used often.
I found a nice website about those Crusader III AA vehicles, which describes them well. But I think I will go for the M14. Good idea about the conversion Gort; I forgot to look in the Russian section.
Thank you for the link to the boardgame counters, but I am infected by the miniature virus and like them quite a bit more.
