Modern Urban Warfare Map

Post by RobertTown »

Ok, so I have been wanting to build a modern U.S. City/town map with 3D buildings that would have removable tops to conceal Infantry/rebels. The small town of Woodland, WA I think would be perfect because of the 2 rivers, the Lewis River flowing into the Columbia, the double line railroad, small air strip, and the I-5 Interstate freeway running right through the middle. Plus a couple bridges, surrounded on 3 side with hills... It would be a neat map... any ideas on how one could build this kind of map? Anyone have a modern town/U.S. town map built, or photo's of one? I would LOVE to see some examples.

I don't have an entire town modeled. But if I was going to try, I would start with Google Earth and Google Maps for the basic terrain, infrastrucure and building layout. You can also use the street view to see how it all interacts at ground level. It is all just model building from there.

Or if you had the cash you could get an architectural firm to build one for you...

I saw on a different forum where someone had bought a bunch of stackable tupperware containers and masked out where he wanted the windows to be and painted the containers. Made for a quick city with removable tops and floors. Just some food for thought.
