I've got your 203mm right here!

My wife did not appreciate me using the cutting board for howitzer display. I wasn't planning to do another 8in battalion, but I happened across 18 x GHQ M110s on ebay and it was too good to resist! I wasn't planning another micro armor project, but I now have an artillery brigade in the works!

Thank you Rhabstclair.
Redleg, the cutting board looks just fine. So you have my permission to use it.
The M110 look great. I like them.

I believe the evolution of the 8inch in was three batteries of 4 pieces each under the H series. It became 2 batteries of 6 pieces under J series, joined by an MLRS battery of 9 pieces. Once MLRS production caught up, the M203s were retired. That may affect how you construct your organization.

Never stopped you from making irrelevant comments or missing the point, either.

Thanks for the intel PG! I didn't know we mixed cannon and rocket artillery in the same battalion. That definitely provides some flexibility and options for organizing my micro troops!

Redleg, I think the idea was to retain as much power in GS support as possible while making the transition from gun to missile GS arty. The 8inch SPs were withdrawn from service as soon as MLRS was available. You might have a DIVARTY GS bn with 3 batteries of 4 pieces (M110 or M110 A1), 2 batteries of 6 pieces (M110A2) and a MLRS battery of 9 pieces, or a bn of 36 MLRS. It all depends on what you have and your time frame.

My DIVARTY is derived from what I bought over time - 3 Bns of M109A2, GS of 2 M110A2 btys and 1 9-piece MLRS bty. Also have a battery of 6 M109, A 4-piece M110 bty, and a 4-piece 175 bty. I have an ACR squadron with M109-equipped how battery. Awaiting hulls are two battalions worth of M109 and M109A2 turrets.

Sounds like an awesome DIVARTY, PG! I like it! I think for the time being I'm going to finish up these 18 M110s in desert tan and just roll with two 8 inch battalions of 18 guns each (one in tan and one in NATO camo). I'm slowly working on my MLRS, but I definitely want full battalions of 18 SPLLs (one desert and one NATO camo). Ultimately I'm thinking I'll have the DS artillery with their brigades, and then 3 corps artillery brigades: one SP gun brigade (M110s and M109s), one towed gun brigade (M198 and M777), and one rocket brigade (MLRS and HIMARS). I like to dream big!

This is how I am riding out the atmospheric river:

Thassalotta arty redleg. You have your bank account cut out for you.

I want an MLRS bn, at least one HIMARS bn, maybe a second divarty. And then I'm looking to kit bash M777s to the HEMTT wrecker platform. I have a towed M198 BTG supporting my Maines, but have work to do with that element. Marines are one brigade of my 4th AD. I also need two SP155 bns to support the MBT70 brigade and the separate M1/M2 brigade. Gotta get my boy to printing again, or it won't happen. I like the M110 series
, so I may have to get some more.

And apparently, the M110A2s were off active duty by 1993.
