Planning 2 battalions of MBT70s and 3 or 4 battalions of XM723 infantry fighting vehicles (Bradley predecessor), plus the mortars, scouts, command and control, support vehicles, too. M723 carried 9 dismounts, 1 man turret with 20mm upgraded to 25mm, no TOW. Have the stl files.

That's just obscene man!

I'm having an ongoing discussion with a mate of mine about abstraction in our games. He represents every man, weapon and vehicle in a force, where as I am firmly in the '1:5 ratio' camp. I feel that all our gaming is abstracted to some degree, so we may as well take it to a logical point where each maneuver unit is represented with the least number of models necessary to reflect equipment variation and strength. Different strokes for different blokes I guess

Don't panic, Splod. I just COLLECT and build units. I don't wargame. I research TOEs for different eras and depict the units at vehicle level in accordance with the TOE. I have info on US D, E, G H, and J TOEs, which is the extent of my current interest, so, say, 1958 to 1986. Its mostly the combat vehicles and tracked support vehicles with some wheels thrown in. I prefer to build battalions. I also have two British units, 1 armoured infantry battalion and 1 armoured regiment, as well as a French unit and a German unit.

I actually like that silly scale.

For modern era warfare I have decided on 1:3.5 ratio. 1:1 does not work. Any battlefield that can fit individuals will be too constrained for modern day fire and maneuver, given the mobility and ranges now. 1:5, on the other hand, does not line up with doctrinal organization and so gets clunky. I'd rather see a 10-11 vehicle company represented by 3 platoon models, and a 12-14 vehicle company represented by 4, 3 platoons and an HQ platoon, usually.

For WWII especially eastern front with huge forces the clunky works, those forces were clunky. But things today are more on the small and agile end. Even Russian doctrine today emphasizes the battalion as the main tactical element, no longer the regiment.

If I post them, will they come?
Maybe putting some pics up will somehow summon the new list for 21-22. So... here goes. Newly pained South Korean K2 Black Panthers

I just finished a pack of BM-21s. I tried spraying a dark green color and then dry brushing a lighter green on top, but I have mixed feelings about the results. I think I need to get better coverage with the lighter shade.

Next up will be some AMX-30 B2s. My new micro armor procurement program has allocations for website specials. If there is anything on special that interests me, I am now required to order a pack! These BM-21s were 2 specials ago and I just got the AMX-30s from the current special. This is my first order of French equipment. Maybe the next website special will have Caesar or some VABs!

Mick those are awesome! How are you making them? I picture you sitting in a ricking chair whittling on a little piece of wood with a big knife but certainly it is more sophisticated than that! What materials are you using?
