Milano Wargame 2014 - Feb 23

Post by Luca »

Hello,

On Sunday the 23rd of February, at Novegro (close to Milano, Italy), there will be a big show of miniatures and wargames.

http://milanowargames.blogspot.it/

I will attend it presenting a little WW2 scenario. The theme I chosed is Arras 1940. There will be Matildas I, 88mm Flaks, and even Char B1bis, just to pull out of the boxes some stuff and show it to people. I will run a game using GHQ the Rules and Spearhead (I prefer GHQ's)

If some of you happens to be close to Milano in those days, come to have a look.

I'll be in Rome that weekend for Rugby or I might venture up. Are there any good stores for miniatures in Milano?

Hi Paul,

I'm sorry, but I don't know any notable miniature shop, apart from the ubiquitos games workshop. Maybe Tammy may know some store. Most of the miniatures produced in italy are cast by very little busines, which sell their products on the internet.

It depends obn what models youare intereted into. Now i buy most od my models on the net, but I nay suggest a shop Terramarecielo. You may give a look to it on the net with this name.

I know that Scotlland play on Sunday in Rome, atthe same time of the wargame show. If anyhow you arrive from Rome to Milano Linate airport, Novegro ivery near the airport.

Have a nice trip

TAMMY,

Thanks. Actually my son is playing in a youth rugby tourney on Saturday some of our friends are staying for the Scotland match but we're heading back to Naples. Actually what I'm looking for is not so much the minis - although that would be great - I'm looking for modeling supplies.

Ah, ok, so I can suggest you a good shop:

It is located in Via Tito Livio, 20, Milano.

https://www.google.it/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=fIL ... tito+livio

It is a small shop, but with a complete range of Humbrols, Valleyos, Tamyas, brushes, etc... It is in the eastern sector of Milano, close to Linate.

Here are the shots from the convention. I was so busy guarding the table and playing the game that I didn't have the chance to take a look around. In general all the peoples stopping by were imppressed 1) by the small scale, 2) by the paint job made at such a small scale (I was surprised my self by this latter comment, because the majority of the miniatures were germans in panzer gray).

In general the "old" wargamers all knew GHQ as a top quality miniature producer, but for a number of reasons, all prefer to paint and play with bigger scale miniatures. This is a pity. But I won't drop the 6mm.

Here are some picture of the scenario.

Here are the pics of the game.

Image
The French and the German infantries come in to contact. The cows are catched in deadly cross fire. Meanwhile a company of panzers try to shoot a couple of Humbers, but they're marksmanship is poor. Maybe they should have charged and rammed the british tin cans.

Image
The Cruiser tanks are trying to outflank the german heavy recon company!

Image
But the rolls are unluky, no one is hurt.

Image
What a waste of ammunitions!

Image
The French heavyes roll undisturbed on the other side of the battlefield, but the artillery spotter has notices them, so delivers a devastating barrage at the outskirts of the town.

Image
the French smartly reply with a smoke barrage

Image
Les artilleries republicain

Image
The Germans try to outmanouvre the Britons.

Image
But they are out-outmanouvred themselfs At the least the Allied front is breached and the armies divided.

Image
The french, steadily, are advancing, so the Flak is forced to join the battle.

Image
And it scores a direct hit at 3 Km!

Image
This is the last dramatic action of the day, an overrun of a company of PzGrenadiers at the expenses of an HQ stand. The flag represent that there is an artillery spotter in this stand. The Germans tryed to blind the French eyes, but without success.

The battle ended in a draw, there wasn't enough time left /we started to play relatively late, but it was a pity, because the outcome was still open, with both the forces still untouched. Nice and fun game anyway.

Luca, you have a very nice collection of germans and french. I really liked your Char b1's.
The germans in rafts were an excellent touch. Nice job on your wire obstacle markers.

Looks like it was an interesting game.
Thanks for sharing.

Luca,

I finally made it up to Milano for a few days. I'm hopeful I can talk the family into at least stopping by the shop you mentioned.

Luca,

My family and I stopped by the shop you recommended on our way out to spend the day at Lago Maggiore. Its a nice little venue. I picked up some paints and my boys picked up some stuff as well including a PzKw IIB kit, my older son's first model. I took some pictures which I'll post once I get them uploaded. Nice find!

Sorry I missed this post earlier and didnt see the pictures. It looked like Luca's game was a lot of fun. For some reason it reminds of the games we had long ago... 8)
