Hairspray???

Post by Sepp »

Hey everyone out there. I know somewhere I read about spraying my foliage with women's extra strong hairspray . Has anyone got any idea which spray this is? In the USA.

Try here:

It appears that hairspray will not hold over a long period of time, but if you change your boards a lot it won't matter. Maybe an overcoat of Dullcoat?

This sounds like a good idea, I'll have to give it a try! I've found that a lot of good terrain techniques can be found in the model railroading world. Woodland Scenics has a lot of products that I've used.

Be sure to use a pump spray bottle and not aresol.

Fortunately for us, for modelling purposes, the best hairspray is the cheapest stuff you can find because it's just the lacquer, without all the hair conditioning crap that goes into expensive brands. Even in the cheapest stuff you do tend to get perfume, but as long as you don't mind your terrain smelling like a cheap hooker for a while, it's OK. It wears off.

Look for sprays labelled "ultra-firm hold" or similar; they have a higher ratio of lacquer to carrier fluid. The stuff that TV evangelists use to make their hair rock-solid is the business.
