Some times you just have to laugh

Post by Whish »

A couple of weeks ago I opened a blister of the excellent GHQ WW2 German Hummel heavy artillery ready for painting. I then searched through my half used packs of German figures for appropriate figures for the command team, staff team and observers required for FOW. After this the figures were glued to appropriate bases, undercoated and the basic uniform colour applied to them. Today I started back into the finer detail work using the desk magnifying glass that I have and got to have a closer look at the figures. The two observer teams both have one figure lying on the ground with binoculars and one figure kneeling holding an SMG. On closer inspection I found that the SMG guys were actually holding a flame thrower........ Bugger !!!! Probably not the most suitable weapon for covering an artillery observer with........... Well I suppose I could carefully remove the figures and replace them with another but have decided to leave them and see if anyone else notices.

Well, the solution is, don't allow your opponents to use a magnifying glass :)

I'm thinking ... if I can turn guys carrying SMGs into guys carrying flame-throwers, you can probably turn guys carrying flame-throwers into guys with SMGs.

(From my Romanian force. Flame-thrower is modeled on the ones they bought from Italy.)

Ummmm - I'm afraid that is pretty clearly a flamethrower. You have painted them too well.

At least not until their infantry get real close to the observer team hiding in cover.

Well thank you.

Yes, it is clearly my hope that it is pretty clearly a flamethrower.

But the figure didn't have a flamethrower to start with. He was carrying an SMG.

So if I can put a flamethrower ON, I expect others could take a flamethrower OFF just was well.

That was my point.

Mark 1-
the "Pignones" (l assume) look really nice! Care to elaborate on what all you did/used?
Now that I've got my eyes "fixed", I'm back to working on micro and could use a few of those for my Romanians.
I don't remember if the Italian packs have any, so it may be useful there too...
