I thought the sets they used were excellent. The scenes of the interior of the tank were so interesting. I understand the Sherman's interior was 'roomy' in comparison with other tanks of that war (especially the Soviet T-34) and this film really conveys that sense of space. The film also portrays the vulnerability of the M4 to German guns and the panzerfaust.

The set they used for the Sherman tank interior was indeed awesome. I really was hoping for similar shots inside the Tiger tank, but no dice

There were some neat special effects and a lot of action, but that final battle scene really seemed ridiculous. I would wager that a lot of history buffs could have come up with something equally as exciting, but less contrived. Still, the movie was entertaining and heck, it was a Sherman tank and the last running Tiger in the world!

Heck, the whole backdrop of the article is a picture of a Sherman from a museum in the Netherlands....but I could have added some shots of my GHQ Shermans!

I thought it was a really good film.

I kept trying to see the gouge on the underside of the barrel on the Tiger.

When it was captured in North Africa it was engaging a 6lb AT gun at about 500yds, which is the limit at which a 6lb-er could possibly do some damage to a Tiger.

The Tiger was traversing to fire at the 6lb-er when the 6lb-er fired first.

The round grazed off the bottom of the 88s muzzle, deflected off the gun base and mantlet and went vertically down through the roof between the driver and hull machine-gunner.

These two promptly thought "time to leave" and baled out.

They worked it out that if the 6lb-er shot had been 1 inch higher it would have gone down the barrel, hit the round in the breach and blown the Tiger sky-high. So a lucky shot for the Tiger crew.

I did get a chance to sit in the Tiger when they were rebuilding it.

They used a Tiger 2's engine to get it running but had to rotate it quite a bit to get it to fit.
