What do you want most from the new Releases coming out???

Post by chrisswim »

I want to know what you are wanting and are planning to pick up. What and how many if you care to share? You can also relate it to future releases, if connected, please.

I am planning the CV9040, 10-14 packs.

Hi Chris, I plan on picking up a Squadrons worth of Challenger 2 TES, so about 4-5 packs. But that CV9040 makes me want to branch out and get into modeling some of the Scandinavian countries. I know that a few countries use the CV90, is there much difference in terms of paint scheme or equipment between different countries?

What I want are Merkava IVM tanks - the Merkava IV with the Trophy APS. I'm planning on building out the complete IDF 7th Armored Brigade and have one of the battalions already.

When you ask about "new Releases coming out," are you restricting this to just the October releases or does this extend to the April, 2015 batch?

For the October releases, I intend to get one of the Prince of Wales (UKN52) and three of the Stuttgart (GWG21) right away. I may get three more of PoW later, but I'd prefer to wait and see if GHQ produces late-war versions of Duke of York, Anson, and/or Howe in the coming years. GWG21 covers Stugggart, Stettin, and Nurnberg; Koenigsberg differed in appearance from the other ships in this class and wasn't at Jutland so I think I'll wait on this as well.

For later scheduled releases, I plan to get a bunch of the Hog Island Type A (USN89) at the end of December - probably not all 100 of them at once but a sizable bunch if GHQ has their traditional after-Christmas sale. Also three of the Katori (IJN54). I'm not really enthusiastic about this class but for the sake of completeness ...

I'm buying only WWI and WWII surface warfare ships, so there's nothing in the February 2015 releases for me.

In April 2015 I will be getting five of the HMS Southampton (UKN53). As for the five models I already have from CinC, I think I'll try modifying them to late-war versions by replacing X turret with a pair of quad 40 mm mounts.

I am looking forward to getting the upcoming Soviet airplanes, some M3A3 Stuarts, and I think I'll buy one of the pontoon bridge sets or at least some Corbit trucks. I still need to buy some of the Russian Workshop and radio trucks from last year though.

I just saw a posting on Facebook of the GHQ's new T-55M. It appears they have jumped the gun on posting images! As for the new releases I'm waiting for the WWII U.S. Marines.

I'm hoping that the pontoon bridge combat command trucks are the proper ones with the lifting gear, rather than just covered trucks, but to be honest, I'm expecting to be disappointed.

I'm waiting for the pontoon too. Viewing that in February 29015 is listed the tryck alone (U-106) I hope that the combat command will include the deployed pontoon.

Up coming releases is good to know.

Actually, I need to go back to the last release:
FV510 British Warrior and the FV510 Improved, British Warrior Improved.

Pick up the CV9040, in Dec Challenger 2 (TES), the M9777 Hemmt Armored,
perhaps Mamon S.U.M.B. and the F-5, or more of the F-35.

Some of you that collect/play WW2 Naval and WW1 Naval, you pick up 100 of a class of ship. But, who am I go mention that.... I have much more than 100 of the M1A2 (several 100), M1A2 TUSK, , etc. Simiilar with M1A1, M1A1 AIM, and M1 (older with thicker barrel) and M1.
Why sell off with the peace dividend, when you will have to go fight it like what's happened with our MRAP in some cases falling into the hands of ISIS (ISL). Well, in the case of gaming, it is fun.

So upon acquiring the CV9040, what do I do with the old ones that I have kit-bashed?
A roland/marder hull with Scorpin 90 turret, or MCV80 turret for the CV9030. Guess will have to find the Roland turrets. Maybe these will go the route of surplus, this available as a peace dividend.

Donald, I trust you are aware that one of those 5 Southampton class, Birmingham, was built without the bow hull knuckle and so has a much different appearance from the other 4.

I am aware of Birmingham's lack of a knuckle, but who makes a model of this ship that is closer to the original than GHQ's upcoming generic Southampton class.

Now that you mention it, however, I'm going to open a listing for Birmingham in the Consolidated Micronaut Wish List.

What Do You Want Most from the New Releases

Post by pmskaar »

My primary areas of interest for modelling and gaming with GHQ products are WWII land which includes aircraft in the support role and WWI and WWII naval. I also have an interest in Cold War era and Arab-Israeli as well.

Here is my list.

June - AC101 Ju87 B1 Stuka. I have wanted this one for a long time. I'm glad to see it.
I will be getting at least 2 or 3 of these.

G582 Pz III Recovery. I will get at least one, maybe two.

August - US102 M3A3 Stuart. This is a good one for British units in Northwest Europe. I will get 2 packs of these at least. Maybe next year GHQ will do the "jalopy" version.

G583 Stuka zu Fuss. I will get a pack of these. Eventually, I will do some 21st Panzer Division vehicles.

October - AC103 La5 Razorback. I like Russian WWII aircraft and it is nice to see GHQ doing more of these.

Other things I am interested in down the road are:

AC104 Tupolev SB for early war Russians

AC106 Mig 3 early war Russian fighter

G584 Panther G with sideskirts. I will get 2 packs of these to supplement what I already have. If given the choice, I would prefer the early Panther G to the later one but hope that GHQ will do them all eventually.

GWG21 Stuttgart

IJN54 Katori

UKN52 BB Prince of Wales

There are other things on the list that I will get but these are the ones I am most interested in.

You're worried about kit-bashes? What about scratch-builds!

My La-5s, created through so many hours of loving attention to scale drawing, card-stock cutting, plastic putty forming, sanding, and painting will shift from a wargaming point of pride to an embarrassment by next month!

Still, I have no complaints.* Yes I too like Russian WW2 aircraft, and it is indeed nice to see GHQ doing more of these.

So I will probably buy a few, and do my very best on them, and my old faithful scratchbuilt friends will be replaced in my "active forces" box.

But they've had a good run. More than 30 years as an item to show off with pride. Reduced now to a curiosity ... replaced by models that will look A LOT better, but that anyone can buy.

*For a guys with no complaints, I sure do whine a lot, eh?

Hi Mark

Your La5's look really good. Did you build them totally from scratch? Thirty years ago? That is amazing.

Yeah -- built from scratch, back when I was in High School (about 1975 or 76). So almost 40 years now.

Rather than clog up this thread ... I've re-posted the story in the "scratch building" thread.
