Our club is planning out Midway. However we ran into the issue where GHQ doesn't make the Kagero class (and need 7 of them). It seems people recommend using the Yugomo class as they are very similar.

Are there any modifications to the Yugomo that should be done to make them more like the Kagero?

the kageros had paravanes snd radar added, plus a degueing cabLE added foR magnetic mines, the turrets were modified to allow elrvation to 75 degrees for better aa fire. I would contact ghq requesting the kagero as several others are interested in thst class being modeled snd jSTt use a yugumo as a fill in, that's what i hsve done until the actual kegero is released best wishes.

GHQ's IJN5, Yugumo class, is a reasonable substitute for the Kagero class.
I consider the paravanes, radar, and degaussing cable insignificant for destroyers in 1/2400 scale. Kagero had a simpler-appearing bridge and an older turret design (lower elevation with less anti-aircraft capability. These are noticable on close inspection but not too bad for gaming purposes. I don't think these differences can be corrected in Micronaut scale by anyone other than an expert modelmaker.

If you must have a Kagero-specific model, CinC makes a Kagero '42, MF-105. This is a fairly good model but, in my opinion, looks too simplified when placed next to GHQ models. There's also a Kagero '45 model, but this is obviously not appropriate for a Midway scenario.

Thanks. I think we will just have to substitute. I don't want to put lower detailed ships next to high detail ones so we will stick with GHQ.

Hi. I asked GHQ this same question a few years ago and the reply I received mentioned using DD Asashio (IJN20) as a substitute for DD Kagero class.

I have been casting my vote for a Kagero class model from GHQ on Don's Micronaughts Wish List for years and I'm still hoping that they make one. We also need a model for the four ship class of Akatsuki class DDs, especially since no other company makes a model for this class.

I just put the pics of all three next to each other. A Yugumo hull with a Asashio bridge would be the closest.
