Yes that is the basic structure..

Another reason why some squads are 300m and some are 600m is that the 300m type are equipped with AT4's (listed effective range is 300m) while the 600m groups can be equipped with ERYX which has a maximum range of 600m

The 600 m Fire team has one riflemen equiped with the lance individual mortar system
one with Minimi SAW in 7.62 (Not 5.56),This could be a OEF MTOE as far as the Saw goes But I belive the 5.56 minimi has been phased out of US Squads as well and been converted to 7.62.

I havent seen any Org mentioning the Eryx in any thing other than the anti armour section which could deploy the eryx or Milan...RL could you list your source so I can update my notes TIA

The 7.62 may be an afgan thing as I said above, the US and Brits also added one or two or coverted from 5.65 to counter the longer ranged weapons employed by the taliban.

By the way I have not gotten the new french Inf..It does look as if GHQ did a really good job...I praise them as well as it appears the new Russian and US packs have SAW in multiple poses other than prone...Now if we can just convince them to stop sculpting those napoleonic square packs on thier modern figures lol

Sorry, I stand corrected re: the 600m teams and ERYX. whoa Mohamed is right only the Support Team within the platoon has a either 2 ERYX or (more recently) 1 ERYX and 1 7.62mm MG.
There is an excellent pdf doc on TO&E Yahoogroup written by Laurent Touchard that details modern french company structure. I did not recall its details accurately prior to posting my 600m team comment. should have looked at it first.

Going back to the vehicles for a moment. VAB's are used by motorized units, AMX-10p and now the VBCI are used by the mechanized units. They also have an interesting method of designating their tank units depending on their use of ERC-90's, AMX-10RC or Leclerc tanks.

One reference I found referred to the various tank regiments with 1 of 3 different numbers. 80 stood for Leclercs
53 stood for AMX 10RC
and 48 stood for ERC-90's

At first I thought it was kind of silly but then realized this was how they kept track of what units had what tanks.

For what I know 80 or RC80 is the orgnization of a tank regiment but not its nME

Four tank regiments (80 tanks each up to 2009 then 54)
