Hi people,

Ever since I really started getting into military history (Battlefield 1942 and Company of Heroes being the biggest drivers), I've really wanted to collect my favourite AFVs, aircraft, and warships of the era.

Finding models of familiar tanks, and learning different variations of them, was relatively easy. The thing is, however, I am a completionist. A massive completionist. If I have the opportunity to start something, I will not rest until it is finished. If I can't finish it, I won't start it. And they all have to be the same scale.

I have over 100 different favourites.

So, my quest to find all 100 of my favourites, all in the same scale, began. That was over two years ago. Real life got in the way, but I never really gave up on the project.

It was only last month that I found this site, and along with it models of just about all my favourite vehicles. The problem is that a lot of them contain multiples, while I'm looking for maybe at most one or two. This massive project though is, according to my calculations, is going to total over $800. Is there a way I could put a custom order in?

For the record, here is my master list. Note that its categories are screwed up; this is intentional.

I also am looking at specific models, in the same scale, that I can't seem to find. The second page (the GHQ model page) details which models are available and which scale they're in. I was specifically wanting to see if it was possible to add to the models:
  • The Vickers Wellington and the Avro Lancaster - I noticed there are no RAF strategic bombers anywhere, at GHQ or anywhere else.
  • The Horten Ho-229. It's...probably a bit of a stretch since it was a prototype that never really saw combat, but it was the first flying wing I saw and that's why it's on my list.
  • The Type 1 Ho-Ha for the IJA. I understand that, like the Ho-229, it didn't see a lot of production, but it's the closest thing you'll find I think to a Japanese M3 Halftrack
  • Mk VII Tetrarch. I never even knew that tanks could be flown in via gliders until I saw these things in Company of Heroes.
  • Kyushu J7W Shinden was a prototype, but just about every game in the Pacific I know of makes some reference to this pusher prop fighter.
  • Nakajima J1N Gekko
  • Super Yamato - I'm surprised there's a Montana class, but no Super Yamato class.
Just to be clear, these aren't really demands, just requests. And I wouldn't expect anyone to make these requests immediate...I've waited years for this collection and I don't mind waiting a bit longer. I just would like to know if it can be done sometime.

Anyway, that's what I got. Ambitious and costly, but it's something I really want to both start and finish sometime.

Firstly, welcome.
Second... what scale? All the same scale, but Super Yamato and Vickers Wellington?
Presuming you have separate scales for aircraft and ships, I'll continue...
No two manufacturers produce in identical scales. Micro covers 1:285, 1:300 and 6mm scales.
For aircraft I'd point you to Raiden (sold through I-96 Enterprises), Scotia then Heroics and Ros. That's MY category for quality of casting. You'll find a few of your wish list in those models.
Heroics and Ros also do ships (in 1:3000 scale) and have quite a large range. I think they bought Navwar... they are nothing like GHQ ships. Depends what you want; I happily collected 1:3000 for years.
Finally, GHQ sell components, so if you want 1 tank, it'll cost around $5... $3 for a hull, $2 for a turret, or there abouts... just tell them which pack it comes from.

Good luck!

Welcome, Arrow.

I will assume that your reqested Super Yamato is in 1/2400 scale Micronauts and everything else is in 1/285 Microarmor scale. I know you said everything in the same scale, but I can't imagine a commercial market for something the size of a modern battleship in 1/285 scale and all but the Wellington and Lancaster would be tiny in 1/2400 scale. (although they are in the Micronaut wish list for WWII UK RAF aircraft, set # 2)

There are actually several (hypothetical) designs for the Super Yamato. The most likely was the A-150 design (hull numbers 798 and 799) with three twin 20-inch gun mounts. There were also proposals for an even larger design with four twin 20-inch gun mounts or four triple 18-inch mounts but these were highly speculative.

For aircraft in the 1/285 to 1/300 scale:
- Avro Lancaster is produced by Collectair (including separate versions of Dambuster, Tallboy, and Grand Slam), Falcon, Heroics & Ross, and Skytrex
- Vickers Wellington is produced by Collectair (2 different versions), Heroics & Ross, and Raiden
- Horton Ho 229 is produced by Heroics & Ross and Raiden
- Kyushu J7W is produced by Heroics & Ross, MSD, and Raiden
- Nakajima J1N is produced by Heroics & Ross

I don't know of any Microarmor range models of the Type 1 Ho-Ha or Tetrarch Mk VII, but I don't keep a conprehensive list of armor vehicles.

Although I am interested in all types of military hardware, I specialize in naval figures and keep track of the Consolidated Micronaut Wish List. I will add your vote for Super Yamato to the list, which brings it to 13 votes so that it appears on my posted list.

I also am a completist, but it's taking a long time to collect all 2710 Liberty Ships.

Just to clarify, Collectair is sold through Scotia (so the same supplier, either works with adequate Goggle foo). Actually, I-94 sell them too... I have a squadron of Halifax's from there and a squadron of B24's, all quite acceptable but slightly under 1:300 scale when measured. I'm glad Donald weighed in on this; he's the go to guy for ships. To give an idea on Collectair, here's one of my unfinished Halifaxes...

and 2 of my B24's...

Those look cool, though I was looking for the Avro Lancaster, not the Handley Page Halifax =P

I don't have the Collectair Lancasters yet, but expect they'll be of the same quality. One aircraft type that IS missing is the latter Halifax glider tug/transport. I'm thinking of stripping the Halibags I have, grinding away the top turret and H2S dome and repainting them. That won't happen until I can replace them with a squadron of Lancs.

Is there any chance of getting naval fighters and bombers in the 1:285 scale?

The following naval fighers and bombers are available in 1/285 scale from GHQ (OK, so some are not explicitly naval, but close enough):
- AC4, F4E Phantom
- AC31, AV-8B Harrier
- AC60, A-1H Skyraider
- AC61, Mitsubishi A6M2 Model 21 'Zero'
- AC82, SBD-5, Dauntless
- AC83, F4F-4 Wildcat
- AC86, F-14A Tomcat
- AC87, F/A-18E Super Hornet
- AC88, F4U-4, Corsair
- AC99, F-35B STOVL

Many more are available from other manufacturers.
