G 18 Problem

Post by Nepty »

I am having a problem placing the machine gun on the Sdkfz 250/1.
The hole is too small and the machine gun will not fit inside.
Any recomendations ?

My two thoughts are:
1. Use a hobby knife to "scrape" the mounting hole to a larger diameter.
or
2. Use pin vise and "drill the mounting hole to a larger diameter.

I agree with David. You'll find that often times on GHQ Models, the mounting holes don't match in size and you'll need to drill them. I don't know the reason for this, since I assume the master models are created to the correct size. I'm guessing that over time, repeated use of moulds cause the diameter on the holes/pegs to be slightly off.

Good luck!

Thanks David and Tanner. I will buy a pin vise and try.
I will also call GHQ and let them know of the problem.

I tend to just use a push-pin -- press it into the hole, and rotate a bit to expand the hole. Works surprisingly well.
