I need a WWII Bridge Layer. Can't tell from all pictures if a detachable bridge is included or not.I like the Wolverine. Does the bridge unfold? I need to bridge a gap of two inches. This is the length of GHQ's bridges, so that's how wide my rivers are.
I have looked at the Churchill Bridgelayer (UK85), the PzIV Bridgelayer (G565), and the above mentioned Wolverine Bridgelayer (N146). Just seeing some pics in the forum would probably suffice.
2 inches are 14.25 meters. There were no bridgelayer so long in WWII. The Wolverine will be okay as unfolded is 26 meters long.
Note however that you may use two Pnazer IV bridges in seies. Thy were 11 meters long but had a built in trestle that allowed them to be placedd one ovelapping another.
Good point about the Panzer 4- you'll have to build the trestle work; though it shouldn't be hard.
I've seen a couple photos online, I don't remember where though.
There is also the IT-28 russian piece; it was a single prototype that never entered service, but I don't think that matters here...
The GHQ kit has 2 vehicles and 2 bridges. I haven't assembled mine yet, but it looks like the bridges should be removable.
They are one and seven eights inches long, so closer to what you are looking for...
I've got the Churchill Bridgelayer and the bridge is removable.
Not only that but GHQ have somehow managed to mould the pivot part of the vehicle so that it actually lifts the bridge and moves it forward, ie partially deploying it. Quite incredible.
