I just received my PZ IV F1 in the mail. Is it my imagination or is the F1 shorter than the H model when sitting side by side?

Hi Hoth
The Pz IV F1 is an older sculpt and has not been re-sculpted as has the Pz IVH which is a more recent sculpt. Since both are 1/285th scale they should measure out the same but since they were sculpted at different times by probably different sculptors that probably accounts for the difference in the two models.
There are some other differences as well between the older and newer models of the Pz IV. The newer sculpts are slightly taller and wider for one thing.
I do like the fact that the detail on the newer sculpts is generally a bit crisper. The roadwheels and tracks have more detail.
On the downside, the drive sprockets on the new Pz IV's were modeled without any teeth and there are some other things that are a bit off for me as well. On the Pz IVH the lack of teeth on the drive sprocket does not show up so much because of the skirts but is more pronounced on the F2 and G models. I also would have like to see the tow cables as well.

I figured it was an old vs new thing. Just hard to tell if the side skirts made it look bigger or if it was truely bigger. I looked at my references and found there was no height difference in models either. I bet its hard in this scale to keep them close all the time. Thanks for the feedback.
