I would like to see the self propelled Flak 88 mounted on a Sdkfz 8. I just read about it, it has been used in the early months of Barbarossa in support of the 7th Pz Div (tank warfare on the eastern front 41-42, Robert Forczyk. Pag. 80. Good reading).

I made a quick research in internet and found these pictures.

It would be a really nice model. I like big oddities.

Military vehicles are beautiful because they are built from functional designs which make them real, solid, without artifice. The short timers

Luca:
Very nice photos. Also used in the Polish and French campaigns.
I'd also like to see this made.

I'd like to add the Skoda 47mm on the Renault chassis to the list.
I believe there were about 200 of them including the command vehicles.
(just to be clear, I'm refering to the 47mm Skoda on R-35 Jagdpanzer-not the "88".
When I started asking for it several years ago, I was finding references to about 180 gun vehicles and a further 20 command and munition carriers to go with them.)

There were only 10 8,8 on SdKfz 12. Allwere used in Poland. After thery were used in a unit of 6 in France and Russia. The last 2 were lost by March 1943.

Note that it was projected as a bunker buster weapon not an anti tanlk. Its use should have been at relatively short distance against MG bunkers.

Things I'd Like to See in 2017

Post by pmskaar »

Here is my list. I will give my WWII picks, then Modern, then Naval. I will also give my rationale for them.

World War II

1. American Heavy Weapons pack #2. This would include M1917 water cooled, M1919 air cooled MG's with 2 man crews plus 81 mm Mortars with 2 man crews as well. Right now
the American Army is lacking these critical assets.

2. British Heavy Weapons pack #2 for Northwest Europe. This would include Vickers MG's and 3 inch mortars and how about a proper 2 inch mortar as well. Again, these critical items are lacking for British Army in Northwest Europe and the 2 inch mortar is not the proper type. It is nice to see that GHQ will be producing British light AT weapons this year but I will wait and see how they do them.

3. Lloyd Carrier. This is a very important piece as the prime mover for the 6 Lbr. AT gun.

4. French made Halftracks for the 21st Panzer Division in 1944. I hope to see infantry, engineer, and AT versions at least. We have some of the vehicles but just really getting started.

5. French artillery and AT crews. Again we have several guns of various types that GHQ makes but no proper crews. Hopefully GHQ will rectify this.

6. Focke Wulf Fw190 A8. This would be another good ground attack aircraft to do.

7. Russian Heavy Weapons pack #2. This would include 82 mm mortars with 2 man crews, Maxim MG's with 2 man crews and maybe even some late war Russians with Panzerfausts. I also believe the Russian 50 mm mortar is also not the correct one.

8. German Sdkfz 251 D/7 Engineer. Good for late war German forces. We have the C/7 so why not the D/7.

9. Panther D with sideskirts. It is nice to see the G with these so why not the D and maybe even the A eventually?

10. Sherman Conversion Pack. This would have 2 different 75 mm turrets. One would have the wide mantlet with split hatch and applique armor but no loaders hatch. The other would have the wide mantlet, split hatch, loader's hatch and no applique armor. These were very common types of turrets for the Sherman tanks in 1943 - 1945.
The pack could also include spare track links, roadwheels, stowage items and a variety of things to "pimp your ride" and add some variety.

Modern

1. IS-3. The piece that is currently produced by GHQ needs a re-work. This tank is good for late WWII/Wehrmacht 47 what if scenarios as well as early Cold War and Arab-Israeli scenarios.

2. Arab Infantry for 1967 - 1973. These hopefully would be good for both Egyptian and Syrian infantry for this period. Would include a heavy weapons pack with recoilless rifles and Suitcase Sagger AT missiles.

3. Israeli Infantry for 1967 - 1973.

4. BRDM1. GHQ no longer makes this. It is time for a new model for the BRDM series.
The later BRDM series could also use an update.

5. PT-76 This model could be updated.

6. SU-7 Fitter. This would be good for Arab-Israeli as well as Cold War.

7. Ouragon. Good for Arab-Israeli Wars ground attack aircraft.

8. U.S. Infantry late 1960's to 1970's to early 1980's. These would be be basically the same as the modern U.S. infantry in "Fritz" helmets but with steel pot helmets instead. Maybe also include ground mounted TOW missile launchers as well.

Ships

1. HMS Canopus. For the Falklands and Coronel what if.

2. HMS Otranto. For Coronel.

3. Yorktown 1942. Need to do Coral Sea and Midway.

4. Lexington 1942 after refit. Need for Coral Sea.

That is my list for now. There are other things I would like to see but this is my short. list..

Have a great day!

Pete

There are a few I would like to see:

the M103 Heavy tank, or the M103A2 with the M60's engine compartment.

the MBT70 and KpfPzr70, though they never saw service.

The M8 AGS, which is also a long shot since it never saw service, but if it is submitted in the MPF competition, it may end up doing the job it was designed for decades before.

Whether or not these are ever made, GHQ, you still make some wonderful models.

OK, I'll add my annual 2 cents worth here.

Things GHQ really, really needs to add to next year's list of new releases:

Modern Engineering Troops - ALL nations

Modern Artillery Crews - ALL nations

Modern Non-Combatants - such things as medics, headquarters types, bridging engineers, journalists/movie crews, etc.

Mid Cold War U.S. Infantry armed with M-14's

MICLIC trailers for U.S. Engineer units - these could be made with separate trailers allowing the units to be added to already existing engineering vehicles.

Minelaying vehicles - U.S. Tornado mine spreading system, etc.

Next is an idea that I haven't seen elsewhere on this board. That may mean I just missed it but here it is:

GHQ can you make kit modifications for already existing products? You're already selling the trucks with separate chassis so these could be an additional purchase. These would include variations on the trucks out there and could include, but not be limited to:

1. The above minelaying systems
2. Open truck beds
3. Workshop Bodies
4. Electronic warfare bodies with miscellaneous antennae (note that you could also make add-ons for other existing models for EW such as the Stryker, LAV, etc.)
5. Various engineering equipment (cranes, cherry pickers, etc.)
6. Modern exterior baggage for Bradley's, M1's, T-72's, BMP's, etc. (could include backpacks, ration crates, miscellaneous gear and bags, etc.)

Another variation on this would be to list the various model sprues as stand alone packages. This could include such things as various types of machine guns, rocket launching tubes, AA guns, turrets, etc. I've been able to do some kit bashing with spare parts from various sets but it would be very nice to be able to order these as stand alone items. From what I've read you can do this already but only if you know what's available. This would allow you to add various American machine guns to the British Land Rover 110 to make the Ranger's fast attack vehicles or other modifications. I don't know if such a product offering would overload your staff but it would help folks like me make all sorts of interesting things.

Just a hopeful thought...
