2 years ago I joined and posted about my proposed project in creating an operational level WWII game. I received no replies, but it was viewed over 1000 times. So I am reporting back to say that my project has progressed and I am looking for your feedback.
The name is Combat Operations and it is a computer game that can be used as a campaign layer for any tactical game, to include miniatures. There is much more to the game, but one key aspect is that it will give players an OOB to use to fight a tactical battle outside of the game and input the results. Or it can be played as a straight-up operational game. I will spare further details for now and simply ask; would you or your gaming clubs find a computerized campaign game interesting or beneficial? I own lots of microarmor, but I also play board games and computer games. I am trying to get a feel for what this community would like.
Feel free to respond here, or you can check out the latest information on this project at the link below:

Matt

Great! You can see lots of conceptual pics and discussion about it on myforum. We are on the cusp of having a website ready too. In short we are getting ready to do a kickstarter campaign to raise the cash to make the game a reality. So we are getting ready to go on a big advertising campaign on the web starting next week. Combat Operations is also going to be premiered this coming week on realandsimulatedwars.com . The game has come a long way in the last 2 years, but we have come to the point where we need full-time programming instead of a purely volunteer basis.
ferret701, VASSAL is terrific and I am very familiar with it, but I wanted to create a complete standalone operational game that can auto resolve battles as well as allow players to resolve their own tactical battles using their own system/game. It makes no difference what game, CO only wants the battle results.
The other thing about CO will be the ability to have large dynamic campaigns and the ability to allow up to 16 players to be assigned various command roles depending on the scenario. So if this interests you at all please check it out. We are at a point in development where we can listen to your feedback during development.
