Imagi-Nations

I think the idea of the Imagi-Nations is great.
I will make one up for Balzac in the next few days.
The historical gaming side will always be there and is important but remember this all came from the Military playing out "what if".

nashorn88 go with it (just stay away from my oil). What size of upcoming power are we taking here?
Austral, Putinville (put your shirt back on) Failed state of Camastan, MONGO etc.
Lets make 2016 the year of peaceful development or just take what you want!

May I suggest an Imagi-Nation header for each Country mainly used by that Nations owner for info/background/news etc and then a Boxing ring for World events.
Maybe then a A vs B for side conflicts a la the old Camastan vs Balzac.

Also no need for conflict if you don't want, such as my own peace loving Nation.
I just want to stabilize the area and build libraries. Must go the sirens are going off!

I love this idea!!

The Parliament of the Republic of Bishnakya is currently debating the contribution of a Task Group to assist in bringing stability to this problematic region. The Bishnakyan people are committed to peace, so the only issues of contention are:

1) Size of Contribution? (Will the Task Group will be of Battalion or Brigade size?); and
2) Which coalition to join to most effectively stabilise the region? Should we contribute to MONGO, or offer direct support to Balzac in their efforts?

More to follow...

Bish,

Brigade size to Putinville will help with the airlift and defense of Camastan against BSDF and the Swimmers League.

I-magine Nation:
In rugged terrain- Merkava IV and PUMA (olive drab [or 3-tone nato]}, Pzhtz2000 arty.
In city: same Merkava or M1A2 TUSK, use Russian BMP-T,
Open terrain: M1A2 TUSK and PUMA

Camo: 3-tone NATO or Olive Drab, maybe a dark green. If I use Olive drab(o.d.), then it does not require any new vehicle, or a few and little to no painting. 3-tone would require painting and vehicle acquisition as would a dark green.
Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions?

Then where do I place this fine country, territory as part of contiguous land mass and then probably with some islands. Then need a marine force, which either in o.d. or 3-tone would work and may already have stuff in dark green. I do have ships in scale for a fleet, a few subs (2 attack and a boomer) 3 LCS (1 LCS2 and 2 LCS 1 monohull), a Dry Torguga, Canberra, and variety of landing craft.
Again, any ideas?

Appreciate you comments, suggestions, questions, and ideas.

Putinville is in SE Asia and has limited port cities. Main economic value is the large iron ore mines that are used to produce the good stuff of Putinville. Leader name is Yuri Popsicle. Ivan is the head reporter of the Putinville National News and is a loyal citizen.

The vehicles and aircraft used are the Russian type. Yuri is proud of his ground forces and is expanding his fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

i have two Latin American imaginations.that I use for armor games. They are the Peoples Democratic Republic of La Cucaracha led by El Supremo Jefe Patronus and the Federal Union of Buena Vista ruled by President for Life Elvis Narcisso. La Cucaracha uses Warsaw Pact and Chinese equipment while Buena Vista uses a variety of NATO and Israeli equipment.

Yeppers. Just trying to figure out a name and where I'm going to be at. Got a couple of ideas for 2 nations though.

Is there a limit on era/period/timeframe for this? I have an idea or two - half formed, but perhaps they just need a little time in the oven - but before I pull the trigger I want to make sure I understand the rulez.

I know it's Finland. I was looking at your map on your Balzac Imagi-Nation thread and also a world map. So yeah, the land that I'm using is essentially Finland...our borders to the north actually do meet. Also on the right of your map is essentially Norway...or who ever claims that one.

Curious though...why flip the map? Why not keep it the same?

I'm guessing that flipping it is an easy way to get a map that "looks" alien. So you're free to make it whatever you wish....

I'm thinking about doing something with this....

Doug, As Mark said it's easy to get a different looking land mass.
A clean sheet to start your Country but with the advantage (for me) that you can take any kind of map from that Country, open in MS paint, flip it and bingo.
You have a map for roads, elevation, railways, population, state/council/parish boundaries, agriculture, weather history etc that is a perfect fit for your Nation.
It's just an easy template to play with.

I welcome a Northern neighbor but don't feel constrained by any maps.
From the Balzac boarder out it's all yours to create.

Mark, Like the map, would you run that as an island or keep the boarder?
I see no need to limit era/timeline or much else really.
I think the only rules you need are between yourself and someone you wish to game with at that time. ACW with the long lost State of Baltizak on one side, why not! Japan 1947 in Australia etc.

For myself I think it would make sense that you can not take action in another Nation without giving them the chance to defend themselves. So you should go to them or work out a way to game at a distance.

I did take a liberty last year of a rescue op inside Camastan but that was in and out in a matter of hours and the glorious leader was most likely on the Brandy anyway.
For my part, I will no longer act in the former Camastan at will and without consequence.
If I send an aid convoy to Camastan, I should offer the chance of a reply to the action if required.
I feel this would moderate actions from afar and give the host Nation a fair chance from someone saying I just landed 100 M1's 10 km from your capital etc.

Seems to make sense to try to group your land boarders as local as possible but I'm sure it could be managed at a distance too.

Still remember it's your World, make it the way you want.
