Re: The Commonwealth of Chrisdom
Strangely enough.. shot traps are no longer a big deal.
They were, once, but physics has overtaken them.
The speed and energy of a modern round is such that it tends to "refract" towards the surface it strikes- the same phenomenon that causes all meteor craters to be circular regardless of the angle of impact. Something with a lot less energy, like an artillery shell or a golf ball, can leave an elongated crater.
After the initial impact, whatever is left of the round has lost almost all of its penetrative power against thick armor. The narrow rod of the APDS penetrator or the carefully constructed plasma jet of the heat round is now a deformed blob. In WWII, a deflected round might still have been a solid slug with basically the same shape.
As a result, there is nothing wrong with the armor on the latest Leopard II's. In WWII with much thinner armor and much weaker and slower ammunition, things would have been different, now its not an issue.

I am, believe it or not, well aware of the physics involved. Not planni g to go to war in one, are you? Ballistics are not a constant, nor are the weapons engaging you consistent or predictable.

Re: The Commonwealth of Chrisdom
The drones found the infantry training in EE.
If the EE decides to attack it will not be easy, it will be costly, destructive and deadly.
BMP-3
Surprised to come across the 65th Motorized Division on the area in BTR-90. (80A).
The motorized infantry followed by fire support units.
The opposing forces are the EE Airborne

Re: The Commonwealth of Chrisdom
The CoC lost two drones today over EE territory. Mechanical failure was the cause for both drone losses.
First was lost when 30mm rounds were going through the wings and fuselage causing it to quit working properly. The scout, smaller Scout II, overheated then quit working from a laser targeting it.
. Three unknown airborne vehicles were detected in Ukraine airspace. One was destroyed by lasers from two different vehicles. Shortly after that both EE drones remaining left Ukrainian airspace.

CoC attacks ROD Carrier Group 5
The F-16 C escorting 20 A-6 which were carrying Harpoon anti-ship missiles. UCAV-47 B was observing the battle group for 14 hours. It was “shot down” as the CoC attack groups took off from bases in Panama. The backup UCAV-47 B was not in position for 35 minutes to observe. As Orange County drone sub was following the ROD group updated targeting info. It was then definitively targeted by an SSN and “destroyed”.
The F-16 get into an air battle with FA-18 from ROD
ROD forces
ROD air control
Each A-6 fires its two Harpoons destroying a cruiser and fast attack supply ship. 15 FA-18 are shot down while 12 F-16 and 8 A-6 are destroyed.
.
The follow up engagement different flights head from Gitmo with 6 F-16 and 9 A-6 to attack, while attack groups from Panama have groups of 20 and 9 F-16 s escorting 20 and 12 A-6 firing the Harpoons and each accompanied by E-2 Hawkeye. The FA-18 dropped from 22,000 ft to 15,000 ft to utilize their look-down shoot-down system destroying 17 of the 20 A-6. When the FA-18 were approaching the A-6 fired, only getting of 31 Harpoons, C-RAM and CWIS were able to knockdown 23 of the missiles, decoys systems fooled 3 more.. 4 hit the DD, 1 Harpoon 600 yards out from the DDG was hit with its CWIS, with metal pieces hitting the ship. The Burke DDG was continuing the fight. From the northwest 7 F-16 and 10 A-6 were engaged by 6 FA-18. 19 Harpoons targeting the CVN, 3 making it through hitting it.
.
From the east flying on the deck from Gitmo. With the other battle groups feeding data targeting information is very good.
The 10 FA-18 fire AIM-120 at the F-16 as they return fire with their AIM-120. A-6 fire the Harpoons from under the wing. Target the CVN, with 8 hitting it, only one hits the DDG.
.
While this was happening, 16 A-6 from the carrier carrying SLAMs at Ft Randolph as a dozen T-LAM fired from the DDG with cluster munitions for the runway after being cratered. Munition magazines are hit at the fort.
As the battle concludes, evaluators are salivating to get into the info of the battle. The ROD staff are welcome to the “repaired” reservation, Ft. Randolph.

Re: The Commonwealth of Chrisdom
Excellent exercise, as usual! Thank you to the CoC for keeping s on our toes! We're looking forward to the AAR so we can improve our skills. We'll have a few of the boys fly in to Panama while the battle group transits the Panama waterway, but CVBG-5 is heading to the Sea of Japan in light of North Korea's recent missile testing.
CVBG-5 was originally heading home at the end of their patrol, but they may be extended a bit. CVBG-14 was scheduled to begin 4-month patrol in April, but we may move that up and get them to to Korean peninsula sooner.

Re: The Commonwealth of Chrisdom
The CoC has welcomed the ROD 2nd MEU and task force to Monacodom. After complete evaluation of the crew for COVID, Marines and sailors are able to participate in shore leave.
Started migrating out Sat afternoon. The bars down by the docks were full.
Today starting at 11 hundred, a parade took place with the ROD Marines marching along with some AMTRACs, Hummvs, trucks, command vehicles and a few tanks being hauled around. The Monacodom Army units participated along with CoC units, several high school and middle school bands. Civitans, Elks Lodge, Rotary Club had floats. Prince Chris the 5th and Prince Chris the 6th were also in the parade. The Avatar Beer had a few wheeled Kegs dispensing their product here and there along the route. The Swedish Bikini Team Alumni received the warmest and most enthusiastic crowd response.
After the parade, lunch in Ft Monaco, the army base just northwest of Monaco City. Presentation of Desert Combat took place, the animals that can inflict pain and/or death on a person took place along with First Aid, Navigation, Communication. These classes will all take place Tuesday or Wednesday depending upon the unit. Sight seeing for the Opposite Day for units. Thursday and Friday will be some Opp-Joint Combat training. Saturday the ROD Marines and Task Force is set to sail to Tunisadom for an opposed assault landing.

Re: The Commonwealth of Chrisdom
Ft. Chris, Monacodom
In the field today with the ROD Marines on the attack. Virtually speaking, the LVTP-7 landed accompanied by LCACs, LCMs, etc., bring in the M60A3, air defense, supply. All the activities took place for the 'assault' Marines at Ft. Chris which is 40 miles inland. There are plains, hills and some mountains within the Reservation. In this engagement the Marine went through the very difficult terrain to a plateau hitting an area with only observers. The Monacodom Army units and CoC forces are maneuvering to block to destroy the attacking force.
More info to follow....

Re: The Commonwealth of Chrisdom
This is really great training! The ROD Marines appreciate the collaboration with all of the common tasks and maneuver training. Here are a few pics of the action:
A pair of AV-8Bs from VMA-8 "Assassins" flying from RODS Theseus (LHD-29) heading inland to attack targets. In the background is the battleship RODS Werewolf (BB-14) steaming offshore.
Marines running through squad and platoon lanes.
During company lanes, a pair of tanks receiving orders from the rifle company commander.
