Stryker Development

Post by panzergator »

Earlier I mentioned that the Army was looking at arming half its Stryker fleet with a 30mm cannon and the other half with Javelin.

Yesterday, I found a proposal by General Dynamics to field a tracked version of Stryker to improve its cross-country mobility and perhaps its ability to carry more armor. You can see examples if you search on "tracked Stryker."

The General Dynamics proposal is intended to compete against BAE in the future ground combat vehicle arena, specifically the BAE development of the Bradley family extensions.

I know GHQ can't chase these proposals and simply issue them, but it might be worth keeping an eye on for future products.

Yep! That's it. I understand that the tracks will be wider on the issue vehicle. Probably more than a 50cal.

I'm hoping that putting tracks on the Stryker will see the end of the United States Army's experiment with wheeled combat vehicles. They look like lozenges too easily swallowed by the enemy.

I recently talked with someone in the US Army who said they experimented with putting a M1A1 turret on a Stryker. Just rolled his eyes when I asked how it went....

In January the contract for upgraing Stryker has been signed. It foresse 8 prototypes and 83 upgraded vehicles. They wil e armed with a remote controlled Konigsberg PROTECOR MCT 30. turret armed with a 30mm ATK YM-813 For what I understand the Javelin will be installed on he side of the turret.

Besides the turret the vehicles wiill have also a double-V hull against mines

TAMMY,

Thanks. I'm trying to follow this development. Now if only they will modify with tracks and additional armor...
