Basing WWII Weapon Teams

Hi all,

Still working on my WWII German Recon Force, and was just wanting to ask how you folks base your weapon teams?

In the case of my German infantry, should I put a single MG42 (tripod) on a 1" base?
Put a single MG42 (tripod) on a smaller base (maybe 3/4")?
Put multiple MG42 (tripod) on a single 1" base?

What about the two man prone mortar teams? Single team on a 1" base?
Single team on a 3/4" base?
Multiple teams on a 1" base?

Just trying to get an idea of how people tend to do it.

Thanks in advance.

For which game system?

For larger scale games I play Flames of War in half scale (i.e. 1/2" = 1" and am considering Fistful of TOWs III as well). So the base sizes there are given for me. That said I put support weapons on "medium" or "small" bases (25 x 16 and 15 x 15 respectively).

Also, I do not base crew separately - I use a marker if needed for abandoned guns etc.

Are you playing the GHQ rules or what?

Thanks for the replies.

Dougeagle - I would like to be able to use them for both Micro Squad and Micro Armor.

Warduke- first off, you need to figure out if the stand you want is a Weapons stand or a MG stand.
In terms of the Micro Squad and Micro Armour the Weapons Stand consists of anti tank guns, anti aircraft guns or similar.

In the Micro Armour rules, there are MMG, Light mortar and Infantry support stands. Which can consist of either a MG or a Light mortar or in the case of the Infantry Support Stand, a combo of an HMG and Light mortar or just use an MG stand or Light Mortar stand as an Infantry Support stand.

As for basing. That really depends on what you think looks best.
In your case, you had asked about your German Infantry and having a single MG on a 1" base? If your basing infantry and you have it, slap it on there. But if you want an MG stand, then have an MG and a spotter, that's how I have mine based.

Hope that helps out a bit.
