Help Identify This Casting

Post by Hugewally »

Ok, I know it's not GHQ, but does anyone have an idea what this is supposed to be a model of? I ask, as a bunch of us don't know. Besides being a poor casting, I'm thinking the end of the barrel is broken off. Keep in mind, rear door(s), driver on the right, 5 road wheels.

If that is what I think it is... it is a Scotia TAM tank with the end of the 105 barrel removed...

Of course... could be well out of synch but that is what it reminds me of. :)

Looks like a 76 mm Scorpion based on the road wheels and front drive sprocket. Driver's hatch is on the wrong side though...

Shrug

I thought it might be the TAM as well but the road wheel count, front deck details and driver's position are wrong.

I thought it could be the French MARS 15 light tank prototype, which would make the road wheel count and drive sprocket work but driver's position is still wrong.

I don't know.

FV432 with a Rarden turret and a broken gun.

I also thought it was the Scotia TAM, but it was a pretty decent model and had 6 road wheels - so there goes that theory. Definitely not any FV-432 either

Looks like a kit bash between a 432 with a Rarden turret and a 433 SP gun:

http://arcaneafvs.com/FV433Abbot.html

Definitely 430 series chassis - driver on right, front drive sprocket, 5 road wheels, return rollers between first two and last two road wheels.

I think it is supposed to be an Abbott SPG with a badly modeled turret.

Possible Abbot hull, but the turret is neither a Rarden or Abbot turret.

is this the only one you have? Is it possible it is a kitbash of an Abbot hull and some other turret. Even for Scotia that turret is way off for either an intentional Abbot or Rarden turret. I think I may have some Abbots down in the basement come to think of it. Now if I can just find them.

Thinking about it... Perhaps the gun, from a non-Abbot turret, was intentionally broken off to better simulate the shorter howitzer barrel.

The hull was produced by In-Service, based upon some similar hulls that I have with mine dispenser and another that is just an APC. I will look for a few of my models to take some pics.

Chris,

That's what I started thinking. Here's my old photo:

The hull details match up if they either filed down the super structure or In-Service made another variant.

The Abbot has a flat turret front, so...

How what the heck is that mine dispenser thing?

BTW - my buddy has 5 of them...

Okay, now I'm not so sure. I checked the old In-Service Miniatures catalogs on the Micro Armor Mayhem site and they have no French vehicles listed at all. So if it isn't ISM then who made it?

Paul, that is the vehicle.
I think it was called 'Puma'. Had the APC, the mine dispenser as you show for Germany, had an ADATS turrets on an extended/elevated arm, and TOW ATGM that I recall seeing.

The gun turret made me think that it was a MBT-70 model prior to any prototypes being release(hypothetical guess).
