In your opinion, what is the best/coolest looking current tank?
We will define current as: introduced within the last 20 years and still a "front line" tank (so no "but the People's Republic of ** CENSORED ** has 78 of the T26 still in service" excuses.
Post a picture.

I'm going with the Challenger II as well. All business. Very capable. I read discouraging things about the Brit armoured force in terms of size and capability. But then, I read discouraging things about US forces as well.

I'd place my vote for the Merkava 4, perhaps not the most battle capable today (?) but I've always though both the Mk 2 and Mk 4 versions looked cool.

RedLief,
I like your nomination. The design makes a lot of sense. It seems to make using the hull for an APC easy, and we may see infantry fighting vehicles moving to more tank-like armor levels Actually, I think it's interesting that we haven't seen more development in other countries with the front engine/rear entry concept. It certainly relieves a lot of crew vulnerability in getting out of a stricken tank, offers more protection on the frontal arc, better storage of and access to ammunition.
I haven't come across any reports talking about the advantages/disadvantages of the front-engine design. Anybody else?

My shot about 'battle capable' is likely in error. It had been a while since I'd looked into these beasts. With the Trophy APS, of the 4m model and the firecon/firepower of the Mk 4, and of course the elite Israeli crews, I wouldn't want to try and fight one in a T90.

I'm going to go with the UK Challenger II for best-looking.
As for the Merkava, I can understand why some people like it, but to me it seems there is a massive shot trap under the turret.

I agree with the shot trap on the Merkava. It isn't the only one with a shot trap, including M1 series.
