Hello all the pictures are a time line of my project this past 4 months, when help from a good friend the Juno Beach landing is complete. I ran the scenario today at a local Game con In South Bend IN. It was a great game and everyone enjoyed the terrain, I think there is some tweaks I can make to the look of the board, overall very pleased with the turn out, going to add some trees, in the future. Ignore some infantry did not get finished painted for the scenario. hope you all enjoy. Next project is another D-Day beach not sure which to do. I want to be able to do all 5 beaches some day and run them all at once at a con. The rules used was Jadgpanzer 2.

Looks really great!! Inspiring stuff, I like the beach especially. Did you build a frame for it?

thanks guys, yes I did build a frame just to help keep everything from moving around, hexes are nice but they can be a pest at times and slide around and cause problems. the solution is best thing I came up with so far. It holds everything tight, but if you get extra paint on the side of the hex or a small clump it can cause issues. Also the tables had a small rise in the middle which called a little issue but otherwise it worked out fine.

By the way the grey strips on the beach and the one in town are minefields, I haven't came up with a good idea yet for them, also the trench line I want to add some detail to make them look better also in the future.

Lovely work but isn't it crying out for GHQ to make a Churchill Funnies pack like the add-on pack for the Shermans!

So I have just begun to model with the Ghq hexes, before I was using big sheets of styrofoam. Anyway, here comes a stupid question - on the frame I assume you build it first then place the hexes inside (as opposed to laying out your board and then ringing it in with the frame)? Would it hold together as well with the frame but without the "filler" hexes (those cut short to make the board perfectly square)?

Again, nice piece of work. Thanks!

I got most of the hexes laid out then put the frame up. The main issue I had with the layout, is two fold. One the tables had a little lip so that made some the hexes buckle up a little. Second when I do the next set of hexes or layout painting the sides of the hex help for he overall look, but any little dried up lumps of paint can cause a issue when fitting them together. Lastly I was thinking of going with a battle board or sheet but opted out. One I wanted some portable, and two I can use the hexes for other layouts In the future. It was experience but I enjoyed and in time my work will get better. I want to add more eye candy to the layout.

Also anyone have a idea for like small sidewalks? that could be added to the hexes? I saw some where. Some one had small city block squares but cane remember where.

That is a very good suggestion about the paint on the sides of the hexes, in all the tutorials i researched on the Internet I never saw that warning (or I missed it). Makes sense and I'm glad you posted that as I am about to start painting these suckers later this weekend. Thanks, appreciate it.

Very nice work.

I assume the minefields are on during play? In that case you could do this: flock it like your field hexes, but put little brown dots to show newly turned earth where the mines are. Not realistic as they would be camouflaged after, but it would give the right "impression" and probably look better than the gray....

Nice work!
Sure looks like a lot of pill boxes they're facing.
What's the outcome of the battle?
