It looks like markings for the soviets were a completely haphazard affair. 3 digit, 4 digit, no markings at all, things are all over the place.

Do you use markings on your Soviet vehicles at all?

I'm thinking of adding them just to add a little visual variety to the otherwise endless sea of green...

The endless anonymity of the Russian hordes only adds to their fearlessness. The Russians also prefer to be confusing. Maskirovka is a guiding principle. You will ruin your eyes trying to put markings on all those things.
