I've been working on the design of a VN era firebase and think I have settled on this. I'm thinking the modular bases for the howitzers, mortars, C &C and other elements gives me flexibility to tinker with the contents.

Great idea and development. I look forward to seeing the progression. Will this be on the table/cloth/terrain and then you can adjust the number of guns, dimensions from one game to another? Or will you build this to a hill/terrain piece and it would be fixed?

Looks great! Storage for fixed pieces must be a bit of a pain.

The howitzers are mounted on separate stands so they can be removed in case I need to use a different gun or if they are destroyed.

Going to work on helo pad and barracks complex next.

What is the out fence made of, how did you make it?
The firebase wall, what did you use for that? Any special techniques?

The perimeter wire is 28 gauge stainless steel wire typically sold in art & craft stores in the beading section. I wrap it tightly around a small dowel to coil it and then pull it slightly open it up a bit. The bases are strip styrene with vertical posts cemented on. I use superglue to glue the wire to the base and posts. The posts and wire are painted with craft paint dark burnt oxide and then highlighted in red oxide. The ground is textured and painted with flock added randomly.

for the perimeter wall. I'm thinking about raising it slightly on a berm but need to make certain it is compatible with my infantry bases.
