Happy Anniversary to me (40 years of GHQ)

I hit 40 years purchasing and collecting GHQ miniatures this month. I purchased my first pack (40) years ago at a hobby shop in a Twin Cities mall. I cannot remember the store, but I do remember the pack - one pack of M114 155mm Howitzers (identical to the WWII pack of US towed 155mm howitzers). What a great manufacturer and hobby.

Just received my Black Friday package yesterday with a bunch of Harpoon packs including the CVN Roosevelt with beautiful hull casting from a brand new mold. Thanks GHQ!

All right! It have just 30 years for me. Your post did jog my memory, and it was August of 1986 that I first ordered and received my GHQ miniatures. Now there are lots of different vehicles from WWII to October War 1973 to Cold War 1970's - 1990's, and into the 21st Century. Fun time had by my gaming group. :D

I wasn't too bright when I selected my username, technically I need to change it every year to be current!

So after all these years what's your favorite model? Has the "favorite" model changed over the years?

Well congratulations Sir.
41 years for me. I purchased my first GHQ models in
May 1975 at Checker flag hobbies Killeen, Texas.
I just worked on my very first Tiger IIs this week for a Battle of the bulge game next Saturday. Im just as stoked as I was 41 years ago, maybe even more stoked now!
Thanks GHQ

Interesting question. There have been many "favorites" over the years. I had always been a modern navy fan so when the CVN Roosevelt was released it was definitely my favorite. I have collected just about everything over the years from GHQ, so I broke this into a few categories:

WWII US and Allies: Any of the M3 Halftrack series (they look just right)
WWII German and Axis: Jagdpanther
Modern US and Allies: Canadian LAV III's
Modern Russian/Chinese: Scud B
WWII Combat Command: Pontoon Bridge and Corbitt truck set (AWESOME)
Modern Combat Command: LCAC set (AWESOME)
WWII US and Allied Naval: USS South Dakota
WWII Axis Naval: IJN Yamato and Musashi
Modern Naval: USN CVN Roosevelt

I was just trying to think when I bought my first GHQ figures.

I think it was 1976 as well and it was a pack of Chieftain MkVs.

I've still got them and use them now and again.

I've also only just gotten around to painting some GHQ T-55s I bought from Sentry Box West whilst on a visit to Vancouver back in 1989. They still had a price tag of CDN 2.99 on them.

Some things are best not rushed :)
