Well I was bored over Christmas break and embarked on a tricky scratch build - sdkfz 7 Diana. Not a common vehicle but intriguing enough for me to give it a try.

Image

I merged a 1936 Russian AT (7.62) kit with the sdkfz quad AA vehicle. Shaved down sides of sdkfz, created box out of plastic, trimmed 1936 AT cannon, and mounted it in the bed. Added a little extra bits and pieces and there you go. I need to use millput to get the gaps right, but it will do for now...

Here are some pics, I will be adding more details later down the road like figures etc.

The rear of the two vehicles, the one without the bars was the one I'd did first...

Nicely done. My customizing is limited to little changes. Can't imagine being that brave.

Nice job, is that the "tinfoil" on the back?
I once did an open backed truck using small metal staples (about half standard size) for the canvas frame. Would be very close to that shape if you can find them.
Keep them coming.

Thanks guys! I did not even think about using Staples, that would've been a lot smarter than trying to melt strands of plastic into a special shape. I wound up buying some small gauge wire as well to use the next time I try it. And yes that is tin foil on the back of those half tracks. I don't know why, but I like adding tarps to everything.
