PolishGI’s Working Thread (WWII & Vietnam)
I have a bunch of pics that I take so I thought it best to try and create my own thread for those that are interested in following. I will continue to post in other threads but will only throw up in my thread while posting various pics in other threads. I do this for my two car forums that I am on so this will be more of the norm for me. I hope this is acceptable here on this website.
I like modelling and gaming in World War II along with the Vietnam Conflict. So depending on what I am playing or building, there will be probably a little of both in here in case anyone is interested.
Start with the Vietnam stuff…
Test hex for Vietnam forest area:
Hueys coming in for support:
First attempt at an elephant grass hex. Needed it appear to be grass, block LOS yet allow an individual trooper through:
Stream following through heavy vegetation:

Moving onto the WWII stuff and catching things up…
Now, I reserve the right to fall back on the lame excuse that building your GHQ model list and terrain is a work in progress! Hehe These pics are from around 2002… I do not think I have any pics in electronic format from an earlier time period.
US recon elements are in the lead
Smoke calls are being made to cover the advance
One of those time that you get that uneasy feeling…
German heavy assets are moving into the area
This was the frustrating aspect of the entire scenario, the American player got a LUCKY side shot on the Tiger and disabled it. Most frustrating for the German commander.

These pics (circa 2009) come from a battle called Attack on the Twin Villages. December 16th, 1944 during the Ardennes Offensive, the Germans are attacking Krinkelt and Rocherath.
Ready to go!
Villages in the background
Panzer Grenadiers attacking
Panthers moving in and supporting the infantry advance

Recent pics from the Motorpool:
Yeah, GHQ’s XMAS sale just came in…
Decals, decals and more decals…
Elefants ready to go for final top coat
Nashorns are just about done and ready to go for final flat top coat
Next up for primer…
I ended up stripping the paint off of my JgPz Vs and T-34/76 group. I just did not like the colors used many moons ago. I used Simple Green and let them soak for 4 days. It worked but did not take ALL the paint off. Troothbrushed the paint off and as a final phase, I brake cleaned (auto spray) the models and got a little more off. This is as good as they will get and Im waiting to primer them.

Wow that's quite a thread! I enjoy seeing your stuff it gets me thinking. Great Paint work too!!
Do you have any rules of thumb on how dense to pack your hexes with trees to simulate forests etc but to leave room for your minis? I'm just starting to build forest hexes.
Thanks again and keep updating this thread!!
