Though I don't have the ability to paint anything, at the moment, It has not stopped me from purchasing new vehicles. Quite a few are from GHQ's new models. Japanese Type 10 and Type 89, German Boxer, and some US Fuel Vehicles. However, the most recent purchase of the Iraqi T-55 Enigma is may favorite. I am not sure if its the quality of the piece or the subject matter, but I think its one sharp tank. Even though its use and effectiveness in battle was minimal, I purchased 10 of them. Could not be happier. It has such a unique profile that I actually think it would rank in my list of top 10 best looking tanks. Way to go GHQ!!!

Well, I finally got to paint my 10 T-55 Enigmas that I bought a while back. I really do love the vehicles and the detail GHQ put into this latest addition to the T-55 Line up. Not normally a fan of Soviet hardware, but the Iraqi add on armor makes it look sharp.







As usual, I am posting before they are done, but had to share. I also want to thank all the people that urged me to use a Grey for vehicle wheels. For these vehicles I used Tamiya German Grey (XF-63) and a dab of NATO Black (XF-69) to darken it a little. I still like the look of Flat Black to give it the Parade look.

They look amazing! I don't know how you finish them off, but I'd say a quick and light wash of some army painter soft tone over it, then a soft drybrush with the drab colour you used would help it pop!

Chatto, thanks for the feedback and the suggestions. Over time, I am slowly incorporating what people have suggested and have not been disappointed with the results.

Most of what I have left to do, is clean up the over paint around the wheels, dry brush some steel color on the treads and maybe a wash. I will probably try to put some paint on the vision ports and paint the log under the external fuel tanks. I have debated on painting the eternal tanks a different color. I have seen blue and red ones with a white stripe. I might save that for a different set of vehicles.

I'd say drybrush a tiny fleck of steel grey colouration along the middle of the tracks, as that is where the most wear and tear would show through due to wheel pressures etc.

Also, definitely paint the fuel drums, if only for a chance to break up the colouration! If you want to keep them the same colour maybe add some rust markings on the barrels, just something so they look distinctly different to the braces they are being held in

I love adding color and detail to break up the "Colouration" as you put it. The pictures below are kind of what I had in mind for the fuel Barrels.





I like the look of adding some small details here and there. Helps when the vehicle is one solid color. That is why I lobbied for External storage so hard. Plus it hides some of the goofs on the paint job. It is double edged in that it opens you up to opportunity to make more mistakes.. LOL. Little scared about trying it.. eyes are failing and not sure how to mix the colors so they are not so bright.
