I played a Lord of the Rings game in which 1 lowly Goblin held off Boromir and three warriors of Gondor for several turns. He was given a posthumous Eye of Saurin (painted on his base).
I had an ACW unit REFUSE to break despite numerous hand to hadn assaults by dought confederates. I gave his flag a gold tassle and eagle.
I have a unit of Soviet armor that has twice performed beyond all reasonable expectations. I was thinking of giving them a unique decal as a reward.
Anyone else do anything like this?
Do you ever give your units medals?

Once, a long time ago, I was playing a WWII scenario. Americans and Germans were both trying to occupy a village/town and a Stuart got a kill shot on a Tiger II (from the rear at 100m range). Someone remarked that it was the mouse that roared that game. Surely the unit should have been awarded recognition of their accomplishment, but later on I didn't recall which stand had done this.

I haven't done this with micro armor (yet), but in other wargames I track units and award them campaign streamers (for participation in a campaign or battle) and I award distinguished unit citations based on gallant performance n battle. Sounds like a good idea though - I think the ROD needs some medals for the troops!
