The Russian attack was the 2nd wave of a major assault on a very strict schedule. the Brits were able to slow the Russians, inflicting a lot of causalties upon the Russians. The Russians did push and did take 3 towns which was the objective, to take terrain for a deeper break through with follow on forces with better equipment.

The Germans did try to support the Brit, who were on the front line. The Brits were almost completely wipped out. Losing all tanks in an armored company except 1, losing all FV 432 except 2 from the mech infantry company. The German did re-capture a town which was their primary objective to slow down the push and allow logistics & resupply with the line of communiction/control.

The 3rd wave of the attack was to take place at 1:05 am without prior prep fire. It was to have pre-plotted arty fire on suspected positions of the Germans, even if there were still civilians in town. If the Germans did not wish to risk the loss of German civilians they should not fight over the town.

Thank you to Paul W for hosting, it was a fun game, nice set up. Great host he was. Congratulations to NATO: Harley and Mick winning the game. I do wish to express appreciation to my comrade partner and commander Stone, he did a wonderful job.

Lots of fun and glad everyone was able to make it. Unfortunately for the Russians they did not reach the two furthest objectives so the NATO hospital was evacuated and the Americans were able to bring up units to seal a potential encirclement by the Pact. Warsaw Pacy forces took heavy loses trying to break the British line. The Brits fought tooth and nail and showed they had some fight in them. Follow-on Brits did not add much to the battle nor the Germans but they did force the Russians to stop and regroup.

How large was this game and what rules were used?

Hey Guys,

Chris took some pices so hopefully he can post them. All units had attrition already from three days of fighting so when company is mentioned it is probably 7-9 vehicles. The NATO forces started with a tank company, mech company with FV432, AT company and a platoon of additional mech support for the AT company. Some AA units as well. Soviets started with three companies of T-62's and one company of BMP-1's. Each turn additional units were added and a chance for air power was given. Soviets had more air power throughout the game. Artillery was very minimal for NATO but they did get one minefield which they placed on a major road.

Altogether Pact probably ended up with a Regiment mixed between tanks and APC's. NATO had 2 battalions mixed but the majority still had not made it into battle. Soviets would have gotten more reinforcements but we ran out of time.
