Hi all,

I have an extensive micro armor collection. I don't have time to play much but I do like painting them. When I assembled them I glued all the turrets on the tanks. After reviewing several different sets of micro armor rules I realized that this was NOT a good idea. Anybody have any ideas how to undo this?

I have used an Xacto knife to slide under the turret, and pop the turret off. You can then scrap or pry dried glue off. Apply paint as needed. I would do this with a few vehicles you may not necessarily cry over if it does not turn out the way you would like.

2nd option, strip all paint off and repaint with the turret not glued down.

3rd option, buy an identical 2nd set of of all your vehicles/figures and paint without turret glued. By doing it with this option, you will double the size for your force.

Try a drop of fingernail polish REMOVER on the UNDERSIDE at the point of the turret stem. Let it soak at least overnight. That MAY do it without messing up the paint. That assumes you used cyanoacrilate (superglue)...

Put them in the freezer. The superglue ... some superglue will become brittle and then you can just pop the turrets off

Leave them glued down.

When required put a small bead next to the tank to show which way the barrel is "actually" pointing.

It worked to get mine apart, granted it was before they were painted. I have also used finger nail polish remover Acetone in the past also prior to paint.

Unless you want to repaint them, I'd stay away from any of the chemical solutions. I second the freezer method followed by gentle prying with an Exacto knife.

Use the bead and leave them glued. I will be gluing down all my APC's because I am tired of losing turrets.

Be careful with x-acto knife. U dont want to snap the blade.

I am with the "leave them" camp. I gave up on loose turrets some time ago - they fall off in transit or storage, and relying on the direction a turret is pointing is a pretty flimsy mechanism, usually leading to arguments. I would choose a different rule set, or use some other mechanism such as the bead. Given that they are already glued down you will be opening yourself up to a lot of work - not just getting the turrets off, but also making good on the damage to the existing paintwork.
