I just want to throw this up there and see what comes down.

Is this forum the right place (at this time) for the Imagi-Nations?
Do they add or distract from this forum?
Should they be streamlined to one thread or the "Show us your stuff" thread?
Would most rather see them gone?
What, if any is the GHQ point of view?

I first came across them on this GHQ forum.
To me they are no different or as removed in war gaming as someone trying to play Gettysburg, D Day or Fulda gap.
Myself I feel they are an addition but understand that not all will see it this way.

I like them. I do imagi-nations myself, and think they are a great way to experiment in moderns gaming.

They fill in when nobody is posting anything about other aspects of the hobby and perhaps, offer some ideas for conflict in other environments. They are relevant to the hobby of war gaming in 1/285th scale, since they frame possible war games and the reasons for them.

They aren't offensive and they are on subject. If someone objects, they are clearly marked and easily avoided. Nobody is REQUIRED to read them or respond.

I don't see a justifiable argument to ban them. If it weren't for them, we might go weeks with nothing new to read on the forum.

Well I guess the key thing is what would you have here without them?

Not many people post here at the moment for whatever reason - personally I have already mentioned why I believe that to be so but that isn't the question.

Imagi-nations help to show off products, give ideas for other games and also add some discussion points to the board. I'd like to see some more "photo" style posts, but that may be more difficult now that photoshop has shot itself in the foot by making everything pay-to-play.

Micro armor is a blank canvas. The miniatures can be used to recreate actual historical battles, or they can be used to fight fictional battles. Or they can be used to make dioramas. Or they can be collected to build a specific unit. Or they can be played with like any other toy tanks.

Why would we want to put restrictions on what topics we post here? Would we restrict pictures of models that are not painted in the correct colors because they aren’t real?

Well positive so far. The more the forum is used the better it can become.
I know there will always be grey areas and issues, every forum has them. However if everyone's goal here is to enjoy the wonderful GHQ products we should not go too far wrong.

I am a great believer in the adage "Complaining without offering a solution is just whining."
The challenges of some of the new media and platforms out there can be met head on.
Lets use them and tie them back to this forum.
Many here have their own blogs and sites both big and small, cross linking is more sharing it helps everyone.

The forum(website too) could be up dated if GHQ wished. This would be a very cost effective way forward in claiming more of their internet footprint.
It can easy become more interactive, engaging and a great ready to use selling tool.
Things have come a long way in the last few years, there is no reason why this forum can not adapt and benefit as well.

I will be using this domain to build out my own idea of my Balzac Imagi-Nation and will continue posting here too unless GHQ asks otherwise. Don't worry it will not be the UIN site. I just wanted to show a simple web page with colour and movement.

The photo hosting problem created by some guru at Photobucket is a gold plated opportunity if used correctly, be that by GHQ or one of the forum members.

In the end I guess we can all help by just posting. Big or small with or without images, keeping it civil and fun.

While I don't get into that aspect of the hobby, it's great to a) have the participation in the forum; b) see the the modeling going on and c) hell - who knows I may buy into the concept one day. I don't always read those threads, but it has no bearing on me, and how I use the forum. Post Onward fellows!

Ideally there would be a single thread for it. I have ZERO interest in this topic and believe it may chase some people away from the forum. BUT, ultimately if it involves GHQ miniatures I do not see the problem.

I am not sure why there is any issue with imagi-nation. It's a form of story telling that is no different than creating fictisious or hypathetical scenarioes with current countries or past ones. If it fosters game play and community, so be it...if it fosters people to buy more pieces to help GHQ cranking out these beautiful pieces in the numerous versions, even better.

I think what this site needs is sub folders. Imagi-nation discussion aside. The shear volume of post would be easier to view and use if they were organized in folders. I think that alone could help bring people back or keep them here after they find the sight. I have seen repeat questions, from me included, on subjects that were discuss before.

Bringing it back to this discussing, the creation of sub folders would allow you to keep all the Post in one spot and easier for people to choose what they want to focus on.

I was a bit slower to catch on and participate in the Imagi-Nation concept. Not sure what how it might develop and then to think of my Imagi-Nation. I like each person having their own thread and at times a special thread for an operation/scenario. It provides a theme to follow and/or to participate in.

As for interest in some threads, the 1/2400 is not of interest... and there are 2 or 3 of them. but those guys like them, I skip over them. Others will post a new thread asking a question and the answer and more info is 2 or 3 pages back, maybe further. That one new thread become noise to me. I then skip over it.

I have come to know a few people 'virtually' doing through the Imagi-nation, traded with some. and have gamed with some. The gaming at a convention in Feb will be somewhat based upon Imagi-nation, the setting is an airport scenario I got from Mick(7.62). Next year planning a harbor scenario in Feb 2019.

One thing of interest is sometime people do look at or read the events of threads. Some at 3,000, 10,000, 20,000 or more views. So somebody is appreciating it unless all the views are mistakes. I know some of the 1/2400 threads are above 200,000 views, so do not take them away. People appreciate them more than I do. At times I may look in.

Another friend that I game with is planing to participate in the Imgii-nation. So there is interest from others that have read some posts. In that context, I also think it fosters more sales. This friend has bought some stuff with this in mind. So the forum and the Imagi-nation have both produced results that are positive for GHQ and gamers.

I wouldn't ban them but I do find that they are not very accessible or understandable to people who aren't directly involved.

No real interest myself.
I have looked at them a few times when there was nothing else new, but as CG2 said- It's really rather incomprehensible to those not involved.
I see no reason they should be banned- just don't read it if you aren't interested.

I like the website idea. I followed 7.62's lead and I created a site for the ROD. It still needs some work and some tweaking, but it's a start.

I finally got the ROD website in a presentable state. My first website so I'll be experimenting / playing with it for a while. When you get around to linking the member states on the UIN site please include the ROD!

I dislike the imaginary nation posts. I didn't dig Wehrmacht '46 either. I just find history and reality interesting. When I come here and see 6 of those imaginary nation threads going and not much else new otherwise, then I feel micro armor interest is dying in general. Those threads have definitely reduced my forum visits. I think it would be better if they were in a sub-folder or in one thread with a stickie.

I guess I just miss historical wargaming posts, more pics of nicely painted historical minis and discussions of wargame rules, terrain, scratch building and the like. Maybe the content just went to Fakebook and the like.
