Scunthorpe Problem

I have discovered that the problem with GHQ's censorship filter has a name; the Scunthorpe Problem. This is what happens when an automated editing system censors longer words that contain a string of letters that constitute an objectional word. For example, "Guadalc*nal" with an extra "a" in place of the asterisk.

The name is that of a village in North Lincolnshire, the residents of which could not register on AOL in the mid-1990s. The Wikipedia entry includes several amusing/annoying examples.

That's annoying as I have a WW2 Canadian SP gun called a Se*ton but it keeps getting Censored because of the first part of the name.

Even more annoying when you cant even enter USS ** CENSORED ** or HMS ** CENSORED **. However I could probably type the fornicating Scunthrope problem, with out a problem.
