I'm thinking a scythe or you better have the fire department standing by, given your country's current inclination to wildfire.

Get some goats. Then you can eat them after your grass is all chewed up!

I'll suggest a sickle at the local hardware store. Fun and it's exercise (am I allowed to use that word?). It'll put the grass at a mowable level. Although honestly 10 for 10 wouldn't do again.

Goats are too chewy. Sort of like land squid. Do you like your rubber bands surf or turf?

Yeah, and you would have to be RESPONSIBLE, TOO!

With the whole site "Under Construction", there are some odd errors popping up from time to time...

As to you being "lovely" - I'll leave that to the judgement of the staff over there! :P

"Lovely" is purely in the eye of the beholder.

I think a moderator would need to start by knowing that this is a forum for talking about wargaming, specifically with GHQ products.

What happened to the mods? Other than Cama, who bailed and MK1, I haven't heard or seen them in a whille.

To keep things constructive, I'll just point out that there's a button marked FAQ at the top of the page that links you to some pages you might wish to read if you wish to apply to be a moderator.

Use care when speaking the names of the ancient ones, for they can be called forth by the lightest intonations...

And what might they be exactly?

In addition to the FAQ, which addresses more the administrative side of the forum, you may also wish to read the Sticky Threads "Tips for Registering..." and "Thank You for Being a Member...". They will provide you with guidelines for behavior and posting that we have kept to for something like 20 years now.

GHQ wrote:We want to thank all of our much valued forum members. We have gotten a lot of really nice feedback over the years about our forum. People tell us that they have gotten a lot of useful information about getting into wargaming, tips on military modeling, historical information about military equipment, etc. here on our forum. Above all else, the most common feedback that we have gotten has been that visiting the GHQ forum is a nice break from the flames wars, and pettiness, that is seen on many other forums.

That last point had held up until the last few days. We aren't going to even say what the topic was, because it doesn't make any difference (the threads relating to this have been taken down).

Wargaming is a great hobby. It allows people to gain an understanding of things in a way that you can't get from reading books, watching videos, or talking to others. It's also a hobby that we describe as "an inch deep, and 25,000 miles wide". It's not the type of hobby that most people can walk down to the corner store, and meet some others who share their interest. That is one of the neat things about this hobby, many people have connected, and made friends with people who are across continents, or oceans because of their common interest in wargaming. We have put this forum on our website for wargaming, military modeling and collecting. There are countless other forums/bulletinboards/groups/etc. for almost anything that you can think of.

We are limiting this forum to military gaming, modeling, and history. If we see any topic threads, or posts, that we feel are getting too far out, they will be taken down with no warning. If we see any posts that are inflammatory, they will be taken down. All of this will be at our discretion.

Just to give you a little background on GHQ's censorship of our forum, before this weekend we have probably deleted a total of 5-10 posts over the course of about 20 years (and those were the result of a flame war that broke out about 10 years ago). We love to see the posts on our forum, and we especially like it when we hear that someone has found some great guidance here, or that they like it because of the friendly atmosphere.

We want to thank all of our forum members for maintaining a friendly educational environment.

Thank you,
GHQ
So making friends with other wargamers ... not a bad thing. But don't wander too far. The GHQ Forums are for discussion of military gaming, modelling and history.

These forums are not for discussing politics, or car repairs, or beach vacations, or how to deal with stubborn children (unless they stubbornly refuse to let your tanks win).

We are grown ups, and our forum is largely self-policing. Moderating is done only rarely. Only when needed. It's all best when no one makes it needed.
