Line of sight within blocking terrain

The rules are pretty clear about which terrain blocks line of sight and that stands at the edge of blocking terrain can fire out from such terrain AND be seen and fired on by enemy stands outside of the blocking terrain with a successful cohesion roll by the firing stand that takes the type of terrain into account. I'm less certain about friendly and enemy stands both occupying the same terrain feature and attempting to spot and fire on each other within that terrain. For example, a friendly tank platoon occupying a wooded area attempting to spot and fire on enemy tanks in the same woods, but more than 1" away--i.e. not in base to base contact. How far can they each see in terms of LOS to each other and fire? Does this apply in all types of blocking terrain such as light buildings, heavy buildings, etc.
